I notice how Davies while having a very poor game, was given a free pass, as no one has dared to criticise him for making that dreadful tackle for their penalty. Had that been Aurier.................................... (fill in the rest)!

Japhet:

That would have been Aurier's Ghaly moment had that happened

To what? Tactics isn't compenstion for proper striker, especially when you have some key players who are dependent on playing with proper striker. Tactics can get you only so far.

Daniel Levy - 3 for not getting even short term option up front on jan window.

Get the ball down on the deck and play some football (like we did when Lamela came on). Constantly hoofing it up to Moura, Dele, Bergwijn (and Son) isn't going to yield much unless defenders make fuck ups. That worked v Villa but you can't rely on it - it was a fluke. We have such quality with Lo Celso and Ndombele, and a far too good a balance in midfield to ignore it and lump it over their heads for most of the game.

Are you for real?

Sounds all to common.

It would appear that Mourinho agrees with @Nicki78 ..

"I knew Lamela could only give us 20 minutes and I knew Ndombele could not play for 90 minutes. I tried to manage the pieces I had."

I wish the journalists would ask why he is not able to play 90 minutes given he's been back in full training for over a month and has been having individual fitness sessions.

The fact that Jose was moaning that Lamela was his only attacking option on the bench and he had not trained makes the decision to not even have Parrot on the bench a total joke. Even if he is not 100% ready for the first team he will still be a better CF option from the bench than no-one.

MOTM for me was Sanchez - he had a massive job yesterday and he delivered.

Also, a lot of people on here complaining about Jose's tactics but i'm going to play devils advocate for a moment.

Last night was the epitome of risk mitigation (or damage limitation).
It wasn't pretty to watch - oh man it really really wasn't pretty but i feel i understand what Jose was trying to do.
Firstly i don't think he has full confidence in our defence or our midfield so he gets everyone to play deep - almost 'parking the bus'.
Secondly, in terms of attack he knows we're almost playing on fumes - so limited our counters too.

Arguably this was actually the right option - Leipzig are full of confidence at the moment and with Werner and Schick they have players who are quick and love to run into space.

We needed a 'safe' result yesterday to have any chance of progressing and yes that probably meant 0-0.

The fact is Jose seems to be doing what he thinks is right with the team he currently has. I honestly think things will be massively different next season when we see new players come in - HIS players come in.

I lay the blame for our position now on Levy . We not only needed cover for Kane but a player capable of playing alongside him in a front two
Jose has always played with a target man and by not signing anybody he has let the manager down badly in my eyes .
The argument will be it is not easy in the Jan window .
My argument is the best manage the hard situations and as with Grealish/ Dybala / Bruno Fernandes . and the jan transfer effort to get a striker we have come up short for the want of what in the football world would be seen as a few million quid .
He just will not go the extra bit needed to be a truly great chairman it saddens me to say .
Before anybody says these players were really unobtainable for other reasons I say "that's rubbish " the three players mentioned had their coats on ready to come to us so to speak . Just the Grealish one alone if he had payed the extra couple of million they wanted before the new owners came in that player would now be treble what Villa wanted us to pay then .
As I say he will not go that extra inch that the really top people do .
Does anybody think with those three plus a front man we would be in the same position we are at the moment? I don't think so .
We would not be talking now about the problems Jose has we would be talking about what Poch is going to do next .
This is not hindsight as I was on this site blathering on about "levy not going that extra inch " in the summer .

Aurier was so so bad. Terrible going forward, rubbish on the ball, defending bordering on gross negligence.

Sanchez, Lloris, Lo Celso, Lamela, Ndombele - Done well.

That being said theres no dispute but did you also see Ndombele physically on the floor at the end of the game exhausted due to fitness?

Le Celso........he's going to be absolutely brilliant for us, and what a bargain at around £45m. Shame some of the others didn't step up.

Special mention to Lloris who made a few key saves, otherwise they would've been out of sight. Also liked Lamela's cameo. Brought some passion to the team in what was a poor performance. Didn't understand the tactics either for the first 70 minutes.
The club will make a fortune on him in a couple of years when they sell him brilliant talent.

Fair enough we have games thick and fast Chelsea next the balance though shouldn't be that negative imo.

Jose in miserable mode for Presser I note . 'Spurs bad or Leipzig good' , question annoyed him so much he refused it .

He has clearly painted a picture of a club in crisis ,with many dramatic flourishes along the way . 'I wish it was July 1st' he goes and this season over . This likely to fire up players for Chelski do we think?

Anyway a depressing match .We have Jose's inevitable low-block , but still Leipzig had plenty of chances , Hugo(7) a hero . Leipzig
dominating the possession (as do all teams that come to Spurs , even the lowest Prem ones ! ) Jose tells us Lucas(6) and Bergwijn(7) are playing 'on fumes' for the last part of the match .WHY ? they are superfit Prem footballers who have played no more than numerous other Prem players who seem to have no energy probs . Also, telling a player he's exhausted ,is this a good thing ?

OK , enough complaints , miserable match enlivened by the excellence of Lo Celso (8) Motm and a few bits of good footie here and there. Not looking forward to the return . CL most likely over imo.

I suspect it was more disappointment at losing after a rousing last 20 minutes.

Davies should get a pass for now. He’s been out for a lengthy period and was back playing his second game in four days.

I think Mourinho is taking the heat off of the players a little bit, managing expectations.

Anyone who knows football knows it's clear we will struggle now until Kane or Son come back. We have gone from favourites for 5th to a long shot and the players are giving it their all. I don't mind Jose cutting that kind of figure as you know the team are depleted and aside from luck in the league and a fortunate FA Cup run, that's about as much as we can hope for this season.

Leipzig and then the chance of drawing Atalanta or Valencia in the quarters is a huge opportunity that would have slipped us by for another semi final shot. I can see why we feel a little dejected at the moment but along we go.

OK well this wasn't Churchill's motivation technique .

I just checked the match and I'm amazed at the number of chances for Leipzig as we play our Low Block (at home) .In spite of defensive setup there was still space for their forwards to create mayhem.

We've got the Low bit good , its just the Block bit that's not there ... compared to High Press Poch who (in his last year) had the High bit good but not the Press bit .

Terrible tackle but think the ball from RBL cofnused the hell out of him. I think the pass was intended to the other two on his side where by the way they overloaded that side of the pitch and had three on one. Davies misjudged the ball and odn tblame him for that as I also thought it was going to the left side. The RBL player just got in there first and by then Davies couldnt get out the way

WIth all due respect, we aren't a country trying to fight to the death against extreme fascism, we are a football club trying to play football. Ain't exactly a life or death situation is it ;)

Totally agree re Gedson. Did very well for the most part. I like what I’ve seen of him and is doing exactly what’s been asked of him by Jose

Since his performance away at Southampton in the cup when he looked lost ive been impressed with him

Hugo my MOTM but Gio did very well. Winks worked tirelessly and Lamela did a great job when he came on

Exactly!
I just don't understand why some feel compelled to rip into Gedson, when all he does is play his arse off out on the pitch. He does exactly what is asked of him by Jose, and most of the time he is not even in his preferred position.
