Nice to see some possession based football again by us. Just disappointed with the front three the most. Lack of movement, urgency and quality unfortunately.

If there’s anyone left in the Conte camp, Bissouma’s performance should’ve tipped it. The fact he so criminally underused him goes to show what a moron that guy was.
He was injured alot, but i agree. Bissouma showed what an asset he is going to be for us this season

"Oh he needed to be backed, we never gave him the players he needed for his system to work."

And whilst I watched us play I kept swearing more and more...but he was an improvement on Jose though. Still don't get howbwe bought Porro though knowing he wasn't going to renew.

Thought Gio should have come on for kulu at 60.
Low block needed more intricate passing to open Brentford up.
Overall happy to actually watch football again.
The front 3 weren't at the races today.
Hopefully against more open teams we'll see more space for them to operate in.

He reminds me a bit of Dembele
More Modric than Dembele is say as he is more skill than strength but brilliant nonetheless.

Maddison is a breath of fresh air and is going to be loved by the fans. Could have had a hattrick of assists when he slipped in Richarlison with a lovely ball. Shame Richarlison lacked a finishing touch today.

What was good about today is that the defence showed they are sound enough to buy us time to allow our attack to gel. I was worried that Ange would be gone before Christmas after a series of tonkings and they would never be given time to show his brand of football can work.

Not going to bother with ratings as I think we are all broadly in agreement as to what worked and what didn’t.

Shout out to Ange though for being brave enough to give debuts to both van de Ven and Udogie on the left.

Bissouma, VDV, Maddison, Udogie - Very good

Vicario - ok

Royale, Sanchez - Shouldn’t still be at the club. Terrible defenders.

The rest were quiet.

Royal was fine. Got caught for 2nd goal but that is down to tactics.

Cutting edge from the wingers cost us today. Kulu and Son probably the worst 2 performers, the Perusic did no better.

Royale also nearly gave another goal away if you forget. Ball over his head and he wasn’t concentrating. Not a defender.

Pleasure to watch overall
Ange............ 8 has the courage of his convictions but needs to use the match-day squad better.
especially if demanding such a high tempo. Changes 10 minutes too late.
Bissouma...8+ Outstanding.
Maddison. 8.....Do I not like this boy.
Emerson.....7+..Classy player. Used to be the scapegoat but has slipped his tether
Back.four....6+ Good first run-out.
Vicario..........5...Rabbit in the head-lights but no major blunders. Will settle
Skipp..............5. .Rather ordinary.
Front 3..........3.. Pretty poor.

Royal also got caught out again and Brentford somehow put it over, more a case of wasn’t alert rather than tactics. Also think Perisic was much better than Son and combined well with Udogie. Was a bit surprised Ange didn’t change out Kulu as well to get Gio or Solomon out there.

Bissouma, Udogie and Maddison were all quality. Good debut for VDV and credit to Sanchez, thought Vicario was sound enough and hopefully builds on that.

As many have pointed out the front three were poor with Son and Kulu ineffective, Richy battled hard and made a nuisance of himself. Almost forgot Skipp which is probably quite appropriat.

I don’t think some players fit his rigid system.

Bis.
Sanchez
Emerson
Are all better suited to Ange's style of football.

Having 3 in midfield feels so good

Forget your personal opinion for this game, what did Sanchez do wrong other than come on the pitch?

Obviously Bissouma motm for me. Udogie looks great, VdV did well apart from the unfortunate og, Maddison is going to be better than we could've ever hoped for. Dave did well after coming on for Romero so early.
Completely agree with this.
