Queues in the stadium

I thought we had invested in these super-duper, highly innovative beer pumps that distribute thousands of pints per hour? Any other match goers thoroughly disappointed by the length of the queues to get a drink from the bars, especially at half time?

Is the technology only as good as the staff operating them? Seems no better than the Lane….

There's about 50k people rushing to get a pint at half time. There's only so much the bar staff can do, give them a break ffs.

Give them a break!? ?

They bumble around without a care in the world. There’s no urgency to serve people. You’d think they’d have loads of pints lined up for HT. it makes sense.

Agree that the queues are awful generally, and that the staff are pretty lethargic, but I imagine I would be the same on their wages and the attitude of most fans.

They do. They go fast. Especially when people are already going down at 35 mins.

Again, there's probably 50k blokes going for a pint at the same time. Doesn't matter how many local kids on minimum wage you throw at them, you're gonna have to wait a bit.

But then, I don't drink in the ground, because fuck all that hassle... I'm there to watch the footy.

Simple solution to the queues. Allow drinking in the seats as long as fans that are drinking are wearing an eye mask.

Irony is that people whose base their effort on their wages (certainly in low earning roles) tend to struggle to earn more based on the catch 22. Been there - really hard to switch motivation on and off.

I imagine it's even more important to not be seen looking inefficient if you have aspirations in London at a huge event, because the person who you serve lethargically might be the same one you're suddenly sat opposite in an interview soon after ?

I agree with the theory. I also want to be in that interview when the recruiting manager remembers the member of staff that served them at the stadium ?

I've often wondered, when I've been trapped in a NMW job (happened a couple of times due to career switches and circumstances) whether some people see where you work 'now', when sifting for interviews, and think "I'll keep an eye out for them, as I'm going there before the interview"

Yeah they can be pretty slow. Need Costa employees in there. I don’t like to give them too much grief though as customers are ****s.

Interesting read as today was my first visit to our new home and me and my Dad thought the opposite.
All the staff were friendly, chatty and helpful. The service was a 100 times better that at the old stadium where it seemed they couldnt be arsed and frankly looked fking miserable as well.
Got served straight away, no bother.
Was also nice to go for a piss and not have to stand 5 men deep waiting in a puddle of piss lol. And the stadium, just wow. Amazing.
Then the nod to Sissoko and Rose, class.
Great day.
So proud to be a Spurs fan.

Didn’t realise that minimum wage on Tottenham high road serving a bunch of fat drunk morons was meant to attract the finest silver service staff.

I use the lounge and there is very little waiting time in there....usually a couple of minutes at most.

Do people really need a half time beer? It's 15 minutes for fuck sake. Have some beers before and after the game. Then watch the football.

I think the solution is to pay triple wages to the kiosk that serves the most items at half time - it would give an incentive to the servers to speed up and cost the club nothing in the long run as they would sell more stuff.

South stand peak pre match drinking time I queued for about three or four minutes, none of the rugby scrum pile in of the bar in the old ground so no real problem. Yes the servers are a bit slower than they could be but that'll hopefully improve as they get a bit more experience as happens with all barmen and women. It's also worth checking out other bars as it seems some aren't as busy as others.
One caveat, I can never be arsed to bother getting a drink at half time.

Me neither. Yesterday loads of people would have missed the goal just because they wanted a beer. Then if you do get one you’ve got to smash it down in ten minutes to get back for the second half. Not much fun. They did used to have the guys walking around with the backpacks and selling bottles. That’s the only time I have had one in the stadium. Less volume and virtually no queues.

I did think the queues were bad for food yesterday but we have to remember it was lunchtime so was always going to be busier than other kick off times.

This is easily the greatest thing Daniel Levy has ever done for me. Half time used to consist of spending 15 minutes getting barged about, knee deep in urine, attempting to fight my way to a pig’s trough of slurry. Now, it’s a 3 minute queue and back to my seat.
