Brilliant idea and a great way to stop the thread wandering off subject when people only want to see the 'meat' in the ITK sandwich and not member's views/opinions on the posts which can now appear in a separate section. I'm all for it.

You can potentially automate it by having any post which has over a pre set threshold amount of positive ratings or just based on informative ratings feature in the ticker. Not perfect but cheaper than getting it done manually in the long run.

Equally any post over a preset amount of negative ratings should also be automatically deleted.

Not sure if this is technically possible?

Been begging for this for ages.... it just makes sense.

1. The current setup has me looking for itk...if there isn't any and no discussion in the Daily discussion thread I log out as I may not be too keen on a player thread.

2. If you consider the change will you unban some very old established posters who are on a life sentence it seems?

Sign of the times, I guess. Need to have a thread to discuss how we can have a thread that will remain on topic.

Shame we cannot all just impart the Aretha Franklin level of RESPECT.

1. Respect for the ITK's who provide information, not because they wish to act as target practice, rather because they would like to impart information they believe to be germane from sources they have about pending incomings and outgoings.
2. Respect for the rules. Not complicated. The Rules (fail to read at your peril)! Not sure how much more clear one could be. Read them. They are pretty clear.
3. Respect for the mods, who are required to enforce the rules, for the benefit of everyone. Rules which, as I have mentioned, are clearly outlined. They often provide warnings that lines have been crossed and that there will be consequences. Yet still, locked thread because people just need to lean further over the cliff to take their selfie. Predictable, avoidable results.
4. Respect for all of the posters who genuinely wish to have discussion about or post reaction to ITK, provided in good faith, while following the rules and allowing the mods to sleep tight.

I like the way it is. We just need to all agree that rules are there, they matter, and should be followed. Failing which one receives the justly deserved slap on the wrist. Fully appreciate that the mods do not have the time or inclination to have to constantly crack down because people cannot just respect posted rules. Hate seeing threads locked. Fully understand why they are. Fully get why ITK are locked. Some just can't help themselves.

If Sesame Street watchers can figure out which one of four things doesn't belong, surely, we fans of all things Spurs can read and follow the rules.

Can we do it? I still believe that Spurs can get back to winning things, so hope springs eternal.

Failing that, I guess the locked ITK and news thread will be the way to go. All else can be discussed in the individual player threads where people can get their pound of flesh keeping others far, far away.

My two cents

It makes sense to have a clean, streamlined ITK thread where only verified ITK (and the few designated cross-forum whores) can post. Similar to the RO. And then a separate loose “ITK discussion thread”.

I think individual transfer news (articles, etc.) are best saved for player threads.

Just to add that this isn't a venue for your lightbulb moment genius alternatives, if you have one of those, forget it. We've tried it :D

Plus the brain cell requirement to even have a lightbulb moment would require a pooling together of resources and i'm not sure there'd be enough of you online at the same time ;)

A few points for thought:
  1. if ITK's are not keen for info in the RO can they be encouraged to use Goat more?
  2. Can the new discussion thread be self regulated? In this I mean people spamming could collect numbers from readers to a point where the post is automatically deleted? If they receive 2 or 3 spam deleted posts they get banned
You might be able to tell I ain't that tech savvy

However, overall I'm ok with both systems as primarily the really good ITK is highlighted, in the right spot and usually talked about that you can't miss it.

I know A&C requested no light bulb moments, and this may be a touch of blue sky thinking... But have you considered just shutting the whole site down? It would definitely improve the standard of discourse...

I think posts did get deleted after hitting so many spams, but it got abuse so it doesn't happen.

A live thread for updates sounds a good idea (y)

Only issue was a few of the ITK didn’t like there stuff going in the RO
Well from my pov don't post it, or use the goat. If it's something you are worried about people seeing, trying to limit what threads it's in is pointless. Everything that's posted publicly is spread all over the net in minutes and rated with a tier system by some basement dwelling gimp anyway.

Sounds good but I bet the transfer discussion thread over time just ends up taking over the player threads and people won’t post in those. I think it works pretty well at the moment really.

The RO goes straight to twitter and we'll still use it. I think that's the main objection, it's too visible. This should be a compromise where it's not lost but it's not sent all over the internet.
But surely if it’s on the internet in the RO, then it’s on the internet full stop - it’s like trying to use a net to stop the flow of water. There’s nothing to stop people posting the info from the aggregate thread on Twitter.

Edit: Trix says it better.

2nd Edit: I say go for it - test and learn.
