Didn’t realise how easy Newcastle’s run in was. I know they have injuries but could see them becoming a threat for top 5.

Ten points behind us but - us at home, palace away, Sheffield at home, Burnley away, Brighton at home, Brentford away and man united away

Add it to the list of ways VAR has fucked Wolves this season.

I think it should always be called offside for two reasons even if the keeper didn't really have a shot to save it.

1) It's as close to an objective call on a subjective offside (was player directly between the GK and the shot when it was taken - yes or no?) in a system where most of the complaints are about the laws being too subjective. Adding whether the keeper had a chance to save it is incredibly subjective based on skill level and opinion on how good a keeper is.

2) The whole purpose of the offside law is to punish attackers who stood offside in front of the goal and impacted play.

Looks like we may be playing them at just the wrong time

I've been wondering for months how Villa's squad has been strong enough to compete in multiple competitions this season. We worry about "only" having the likes of Emerson, Davies, Hojberg, Skipp, Lo Celso etc, as strength-in-depth, but Villa seem to have managed just fine so far.

But I wonder if signs of wear are starting to show over the last 5 or 6 games. W2, D2, L2. Those 6 games, plus the last 6 to come - 12 in total - are almost 1/3 of the season. So I guess it's possible we'll look back in a few months and say Villa's squad was fine for 2/3 of the season, but ultimately lacked the depth down the stretch. Which is exactly what you might have predicted on match-day 1. We'll see.

That disallowed Wolves goal… I’m not sure I can get on board with VAR intervening there ( though it’s more the rules than VAR I guess)yes he was ‘offside’, but it didn’t influence whether the keeer would get to the ball. There was no chance he was saving it either way.

Weirdly I feel more confident when we play the bigger sides than the smaller ones.

I fully expect us to turn up against City and Arsenal. Some of the lesser games, not so much.

For sure. I'm more nervous for Chelsea than City or Liverpool afterall.

Chelsea, all of a sudden, have a lot to play for as they can still qualify for European football next year.

They are only 5 points behind United for 6th place, with a game in hand (Spurs).

Only if we have a proper collapse. If they win 6 of their last 7 - including vs us - they get to 65 points. We would still only need 9 points to be out of their reach.

I think we’ll get more than 9 points and they’ll get less than 18. I do think that they will overhaul Utd though.

Definitely not.

I also don't think they are a particularly excellent team
Good but not top 4 worthy (yes I know they are currently there)

However, 21 points from their last 15 games is dreadful form. That's half their games so far this season and If that continues, it'll be well over half a season they have been just "ok".

If we hadn't had that ridiculous injury crisis I think we'd be at least 5 points ahead, with games in hand.

And I think we would open that too.

I've been wondering about De Zerbi lately, whether he would be successful at a big club. Starting to think he would. Brighton play well even having lost so many players to other clubs and injuries. If he was able to spend net 100 million per season I bet they would be in the top 4

And of course Lamptey makes a challenge on Jesus in the box getting the ball first, Jesus goes down like a rag doll, and it's a pen.

Pen not given for Brighton even though it was a foul, and pen given to Arsenal because they're Arsenal.
