wilder doing a great job.

what's sad though is that he'll never get a top job because of where he's from and how he looks. give him a spanish passport, a nice tan and a designer coat and he'd be well in there.

And united
It is staggering the drop in quality over former years.
Even yesterday watching Man U v Liverpool there were huge chunks of play where I was like 'Wtf are they doing?'
The passing was awful.
It may just be nostalgia but I think if any of the teams of years gone by played this lot they'd bloody murder them.

Don't know why everyone thinks Liverpool are all that. Besides Mane, Salah, VVD, Robertson and TAA, I really struggle to see how fantastic the rest of the squad are. They are miles behind City squad wise. I will say they are better than us though. Even my brother (plastic Scouser) was saying they have been playing pretty badly all season but vitally winning their games without playing great. We will probably lose on Sunday, but I am not expecting a drubbing like most of you are insisting.

Disgusting dive.

I refused to watch this match expecting a spunky 3-0 win by Arsenal.

Just checked in the score and very happy to see a Sheffield Utd win.

Also saw this ..
  • Since the start of last season, Arsenal have been shown more cards for diving than any other Premier League team (7)

In all seriousness, Emery will not be sacked in just his second season, unless they went on a mega slump.

Only good thing about this weekend is both Arsenal and West Ham losing. Even more important considering we’re going to lose next weekend.

I mentioned recently Emery is on a 3 year contract .. But there is a 2 yr option to break it (sack)

We usually play well at Anfield under Poch - we usually end up losing - but we used to dominate the matches for the most part. I don’t think we’ll get battered but still, we need a convincing win to get out of this slump. Weirder things have happened...

Man Utd must be second place in that stat thanks to Daniel James alone.

Thats a massive result for us and illustrates how the top 4 this season really is salvageable if we sort ourselves out. By whatever means.

there was a good article on him in last months’ 442 magazine. A very impressive manager.

I see everyone crying the end is nigh for spurs and Poche, and then I see Man City getting beaten at home to wolves and I think that this is just one mental league.
And there's Arsenal losing to Sheffield Utd.

Is it just possible, that the rest of the league aren't as shit as we arrogantly assume they are, and for the most part they're sticking it to the "big" clubs? The top 5 will stay the same (including us), but there's going to be more bloodied noses this year.

He's Sheffield born and raised, he's probably well chuffed as it is.

Having said that, I know of a certain North London club that has a rich history of successful Yorkshire managers...

I would tend to agree....but the fact we have lost to Newcastle at home, drawn with Watford at home and lost to Brighton away then it's not a one off result for us, its just us being utter crap.

After the Newcastle game most of us thought it would wake us up and we would start to play better but its just getting worse as each week passes to the point where these dropped points are going to cost us big time. The only thing in the back of my mind is that under Poch we usually start kicking into gear soon and have good christmas periods but I just can't see it with this squad in the shape it is in.

And Man City lost 3-2 away to Norwich and 2-0 at home to Wolves. We also drew 2-2 with Man City at their gaff... explain that narrative. We responded to the Newcastle defeat by drawing the away NLD, and bobbing 4 past Palace.

Yeah, we have a myriad of problems and are stuck in a miserable rut. But lets not be so arrogant to assume that all those other teams out there aren't capable of beating everyone else if they take things for granted. Which is more than likely another problem with our lot right now.

The "next best" are a hell of a lot better than just two or three years ago, we're seeing the increased TV money flow that started in 2016 being put to very good use by the rest of the league. I think this season is the first season where we can actually legitimately claim that the old saying "there are no easy games in this league" holds true.

Yes, City thrashed Watford 8-0, but that's City against Watford, they've beaten them by five or six regularly over the last few season.

As for your second statement I think Leicester will finish 5th at the very worst, and they have as good a chance as any of finishing third right now, though I suspect Chelsea will continue to improve and I retain hope that we will as well.

Leicester look good for 3rd, yeah. And I know its Chelsea, but Lampard is doing all the right things with a talented young squad, and has time on his side.

We'll get over this as well... what ever needs to happen will happen one way or another.

Well City are still 7 points ahead of us, despite us holding them and them having a couple losses. And that gap will continue to grow throughout the seasonI have no doubt about that. We got absolutely battered in that game and how we came away with a point is a miracle but then we all thought we could be competitive this season.....

Big teams will always have the smaller teams raise the game against them I'm not questioning that, there is a reason our league is the best league to watch because you get so many unexpected results but when we have struggled since January in the league and got beaten by every man and his dog, a certain pattern emerges....that we are not very good and teams are aware of this and taking advantage. I just don't understand how a team can go from 3/2/3/4 to suddenly not being able to beat anything put in front of them.

The Newcastle result was annoying but as I've said, I thought it might wake the team up (we threw away a 2-0 lead against Arsenal following this result but yes we did thrash Palace and looked good). Brighton was going to be tough, our away form has been dreadful for 10 months but to not even look threatening against them was poor, if we had at least given them a game, you could understand but having shipped 7 to Bayern a few days before, to then go to Brighton and ship another 3 without response is ridiculous, I don't care where Brighton are in the table but for a team with our aspirations it isn't good enough.

Then we come to Watford, yet to win a game this season, thrashed by City 8-0, most goals conceded, fewest goals scored.....and we go and draw 1-1....we just lack any sort of creativity at the moment and our defence has turned into a relegation form defence, literally no idea how we turn this around with this squad.

I agree with you on the arrogance point, I think a lot of our players think they are much better than they are and its causing a big problem, Jan and Toby WERE the best partnership in the premier league 2/3 seasons ago yet now I'm not even sure Watford would want them:cautious:

He tries to look suave and continental though (tries being the key word).

Wilder looks like a "run about a bit" Sunday League manager.

Yeah, true. Who knows, maybe Wilder will get a chance at a top club when Poch leaves. I’m sure we’d all be delighted with that.
