Problem is though is that I'm not sure Skipp is the player we want the ball falling to in some of these more advanced positions.
Bentancur, N'dombele (possibly) and Sarr (eventually) will be ahead of Skipp in that advanced role I'd expect once they are all fit and healthy.

Had it on in the corner whilst working and most of the time whenever I look up we were on the attack. I don't think anyone should be upset re the scoreline and losing friendlies even to West Ham. At this point it's just about fitness and the players implementing what the manager wants from them.

I am seeing differences from last few years definitely. Caught Bissouma's run into the box, lovely run at that. Should have scored.

Tanganga and Reggie are simply not good enough.

Was about to say I would take both of for Davies at LCB and Destiny who might be able to handle Bowen a bit more as more physical. Bar that, everyone has been decent enough.

Solomon being stand out so far but a mention for Skipp and his runs into the box! If only he could shoot 😂

Put the scoreline and need for defensive signings aside and that’s a very good half. We were by far the better team and moved the ball well

Has vicario been as bad as Twitter making out? And has it been bad in general?
Not really. Could have done better commanding box on crosses. Not had too much to do and made one decent save low down (that Forster definitely wouldn’t have got down to)

It's very early days, regardless of the score which at this time really doesn't matter, that 45 mins of football is better than the whole of last season.

On the front foot football is so much better to watch.

Only concern for me is Manor Solomon could play really well and I reckon Son would still walk straight back in.

Don’t get me wrong Son is an excellent player (hopefully last year was a blip) and you can’t say Solomon is the messiah after a good pre-season showing, but I hope players are picked on merit this season and not a case of the same selection of players playing no matter what their form is.

Nothing is ever as bad as twitter makes out. Generally it was a very good half of football. we look poor at set pieces in defence, but we know that.

Brilliant to watch, as open as you like though .

For those getting frustrated I remember being at the ma e and watching Juande Ramos' team smash I think Athletico Madrid 6 or 7 goals to 1 and we all know how that ended.

Now is the time to get rid of the mistakes, bad decisions and find out who won't keep up.

Now isn't the time to proclaim doooom or even glory.

Very positive play in general. Bissouma, Maddison and Solomon looking really good. Defensively worrying, and Tanganga and Reguilon just aren't it

Fun. Some good combinations, especially Reggie/Solomon/Maddison down the left. Definitely moving the ball quicker and we really should have had two goals at least.

Can't believe we let Joe Cole's dad in at the far post for the first though.

Reguilon has had a solid half

One thing I'll add on Reguilon – and under no illusions he shouldn't be our first-choice LB come the start of the season – is he's been injured most of last season. Partnering him on the left with Tanganga, who's also not played in forever, we were hardly going to see any promise there.

Until we reinforce there, I'd much rather Davies or even Royal played LB.
