Can this be a thread for positivity around the transfer window because its really not as bad as everyone is making out and im so bored of the supposed nucleur failure we seem to have had.

POSTIVES

We've held onto all our best players. In the past we've sold them straight away when interest arises from big clubs. MASSIVE TICK HERE. Bale, VDV, Modric, etc. all been kept.

We have got a fresh forward who really could be a great striker for us.

We have got a better keeper in goal now.

We have managed to really trim our bloated squad, into a more realistic size.

I thought we'd have been better off cashing in on Modric-and said so-but I must admit to feeling a sense of satisfaction that we didn't bend over for the Chavs. Fuck you, Roman, you gormless looking tit.

I am also over the moon that Crouch is gone and I'm pleased that we've trimmed the squad.

I'm also very happy that we've got Adebayor. Shame it's a loan but it's better than a kick in the nuts.

Good thread phil
I was staying up to date on bbc transfer updates and all i saw from spurs was who is out.

To be honest, I'm not happy with crouch going as I feel he is the perfect player to bring on after 75 minutes if and if we are pressing. Super-sub as they say minus the super.

However, this isn't about Crouch and it's not about negatives.

My contribution to the positives is that no matter what happens in the transfer window, we can't drop any lower :D

Can't wait till our 'real' season kicks off

Wage bill lowered substantially

Bought some exciting young players who with a bit of luck could turn out to have a Bale impact

We have signed the football writer's player of the year, a leader and someone who will be all over the pitch for 90 minutes making loads of tackles

Everything went well, expect we really should have signed Cahill, a striker and an improvement on Lennon

I voted not happy with the window, but getting £12million for Crouch (who is 31 in January) was a master stroke.

Got rid of a lot of the deadwood.

Fixed our worst problem.

Corblimey looks like he could be a great prospect, and of course Ceballos could be good too.

We have Walker back.

We will not be playing Crouch every week.

Effectively, the players we've got are better than the players we've sold, so onwards and upwards. And whilst the signings are maybe not CL quality, they're players who'll give their best for our club.

Well, hopefully this is the start of a bit of a re-shuffle. It was crazy to be in a situation where we pretty much had to sell so many players, we don't want to make the same mistake again. Hopefully in a year or so we can sell on Jenas/Bentley and Gio if he doesn't go in January and start replacing players (like Bassong for Cahill for example) rather than buying on top of players and to also have the space to add a couple of extra players, hopefully with real quality.

Is a real shame we haven't been able to really push on in these last few windows though, we were on an all time high, I hope we don't start falling now but if we do I know what I'll be looking back on.

To me, the biggest positives from this window is that we finally managed to transfer out (permanent or loan) many of our fringe players or players where we needed upgrades on.

Now that we have reduced our over-sized squad, when the next window comes along, we don't have to wait for outgoings before we start negotiations for players that we are interested in.

Adebayor and Parker.

Getting good money for Crouch, though none of it was reinvested.

Despite our failures, I still think Arsenal have done appallingly in this TW.

Our 1st 11 is stronger now.

Parker is good signing. He will add character and determination. Add to the fact he's a good footballer and I think it's a shrewd bit of business

Adebayor was, imo, the best striker we could have got this summer. Tell someone like Adebayor he's not wanted, worthless and can train with the reserves as City have, the result is a top striker with a huge point to prove. He can get 15+ goals in the league and kill teams for us. Great signing for this coming season

Barring conceding 8 goals in 2 games, Friedel will add consistency and certainty in between the sticks. Doesn't miss games and will be a strong voice at the back

We kept Modric. I honestly believe that's the most important piece of business this summer. Chelsea have signed Meireles but, if we're being honest, that was probably plan z for them. Luka Modric will now get his head down and play as he did last season.

Our direct rivals are now Arsenal and Liverpool. How many of their signings this summer would you take? For me: Mertersacker and Downing. That's it. Arsenal have lost their two best players and haven't replaced them. That's a simple fact. Liverpool have looked good but once they lose a few games, and they will, we will then see what they are made of.

We've trimmed our wage bill, the new stadium is surely on the horizon and we still have the best fans in the EPL
