Been thinking of setting this up for a while, especially considering the perceived partisanship between the BSoDL and the Anti-Levyites this window.

It's probably not fair on the latter setting this poll up directly after yesterdays ITK #meltdown, but I am genuinely interested to see: Would you swap our owner/chairman combination with that of another Premier League club?

I'm also interested in reasons why. Even if the reason is just "Mansour 'cos he's the richest"

Personally (and as a card carrying BSoDL member), I clearly vote Levy / ENIC. We're run by a fan who is financially astute and, whilst some of the decisions have been frustrating, it is clear there is a plan in place (stadium, recent spending) for gradual improvement of the club.

PS please tell me if any of the below info is wrong. Wikipedia was my source ;)

Being serious for a moment, I thought both sides of the BSoDL and Anti-Levyites divide had valid arguments and the best time for such a poll would have been when all that was at it's peak. But now? You could have saved yourself a lot of time if you'd just put Levy's name in and left the rest out.

Classic BSoDL tactics ;)

And just to give the pot one last stir, these magic financial reasons why Levy wouldn't/couldn't/didn't spend that were often quoted, where have they suddenly gone? Are the BSoDL not even slightly concerned that he's now behaving in the exact way you spent so long saying he simply could not do due to this, that and the other?*

*Runs of giggling, holding a list of names who he think will take a nibble

Happy with levy.

Was really tempted to vote for Ashley - just so everyone would go "who the fuck wants mike over Daniel!!!"

Fair point! As I mentioned, I had the idea some time ago, when the debate was more heated.

I didn't, however, wake up at 5am excited a new shiny signing back then, drinking coffee watching SSN and posting on SC.

That's a very good point. I guess those, and they were constantly attacked by a select few from both sides of the fence on this point, that said DL simply didn't trust H or himself to spend that kind of money and build the foundations that will take this club forward were right. So kudos to those folks

Also, the fact that Bale has in the space of a season become a £100m player with one of the least frugal clubs on the planet ready to gnaw off their own testes to get him, a big hike in TV revenues and sponsorship deals, and that he has a DoF and HC he trusts together at the same time have also helped. He has always spent the money we have, give or take a million or two - at least until the club took itself off the market a couple of seasons back and could see the accounts. Trouble is he's been really quite shite/unlucky (I'll go with shite tbh) with his instincts when it comes to DoFs and/or coaches. Usually got one or the other right but never both. The solution often falling into his lap, often in a time of mild crisis.

Seems completely pointless. Why have you got Lewis down as our owner? He's only part owner

I think it's down to Bale. Seems the only logical explanation.

I can't see that they have suddenly rolled the dice, and if they have then it is indeed a bit worrying. On the other hand it's hilariously mental, made even funnier by the fact that Arsenal haven't spent a dime. Let's all strap in for a ride on the "do a Leeds" rollercoaster!!

Why are you even asking the question?

Because there is a great deal of discussion about whether our chairman and owner(s) are doing a good job. See a regularly bumped thread entitled: "Is Daniel Levy holding Tottenham back?"

I think given that, it is fair to ask to ask whether we would prefer any of the other premier league owners, no?

I read somewhere yesterday that if we were to sign both Willian and Lamela, andthen keep Bale, our net spend in the last 5 years would be £75m (i.e £15m a season).

Not beyond the realms of possibility from a purely financial point of view. I very much doubt it will happen though!

That statistic above also means that if we were to sign Willian and Lamela, then sell bale for the reported £78m + Coentrao, we would have had a negative net spend in the last 5 years.

The team that finished the last game of the 2008/2009 season:

Gomes
Hutton Corluka King Assou-Ekotto
Bentley Modric Zokora Keane
Bent Pavlyuchenko

The team if the above deals occur:

Lloris
Walker Kaboul Vertonghen Coentrao
Sandro
Paulinho Dembele
Willian Soldado Lamela

How on earth have we gone from the top team to the bottom team and made a net profit

And for that reason, it's Levy/ENIC all day long!

(Disclaimer: I haven't checked the net spend statistic for myself. If that isn't accurate, my post is rendered pointless)

It's only the foolish who know nothing about the running of a big business who question it.

That is the crux of it. There was no spare cash, we have a fraction of Arsenal's revenues, it would be irresponsible to spend nearly £30m on a striker etc etc.

I expect the extra TV money will be cited as one reason, but it's clearly spending in excess of that.
