I'd like to see us in Europa , being in another Cup comp gives us another shot at winning something also we may give some more youth a run out.

Not voting until Nigel Farage tells me what to think.

I spoke to him last night he said 'go back to where you came from yid' I told him I was originally from Streatham but before that the family was from around Spitalfields

Oh no that was something else. He said get out of Europe ASAP, envoke article 673 and play 3 at the back Saturday

Lovely bloke. 'One of our own' don't you know

Juat want to be out of europe completely which i know sounds rather miserable, but another distraction is not what i want (unless we play a complete 2nd eleven).

I'd prefer us to focus on the fa cup and league. Treat it the same way we did the league cup and be done with it

still have a few pages to read, but knackered so will read all pages tomorrow/today so if already posted apologies

a rough guesstimate at the EL schedule and our fixtures after

Rd 32 9 or 16/2/17 v ? next pl fix Liverpool (a) or FA Cup 6th rd
Rd 32 23/2/17 v ? next pl fix Stoke (h)

Rd16 2 or 9/3/17 v ? next pl Everton or Palace (a)
Rd16 16/3/17 v ? next pl S'ton (h)

QF 13/4/17 v ? next pl Bournmouth (h)
QF 20 or 27/4/17 v ? next pl Leicester (a) or Arscum (h)

SF 4 or 11/5/17 v ? next pl Wet Spam (a) or Man U (h)
SF 11 or 18/5/17 v ? next pl Man U (h) or Hull (a)

if we were to reach the semi's and the 2nd leg was on 18th, we would have to play these ties at Wembley as I doubt UEFA would allow us the choice of playing 1st leg at home, and DL will want the bulldozers in after the Man U league game.

by the 1st leg we will know how we are roughly placed in the League and if still in the FA Cup. I honestly believe Poch will decide how we approach it once he knows the definite schedule, and our standing in the league.

For me we go for it (if we beat cska first of course). If we were to win the fans would go bonkers, even if they wouldnt admit it now.
Also, this could be the tightest league in years with as many as 7 teams going for top 4 and any of those have a chance of winning it. Winning the europa gets us in the champions league, just incase were not top 4

I thought I read something somewhere that if you win the Europa league you get into the Champions league, (early qualifying rounds) if that's the case I think we should go for it as our chances in the league this year will be tough

Sevilla went straight into the group stage draw this season. Not sure if it's like that all the time.

If we are going to use it to blood the kids and give the fringe players games I'm all for it. If the plan is to use the same core group to play in all three competitions. I want us out.

Utter stupidity to wish to not be in EL.
Yes, its a embarassment to drop from CL. But atleast its a opportunity to redeem ourselves with good cup run.

We will be in knockouts playing in some meaningful games.

Start of the decade, Atletico started with these EL. More they progressed more they grew as a team - eventually won the EL - Then progressed well in CL & reached finals. In between won the league once.

Take the example of Sevilla. Three time winner of Europa League. In that twice got dropped from CL.
Decades down the line, no one will remember that they dropped into EL from CL , just remember them as 3 time consecutive European Champions.

If we get into minimum semis of EL and be in top4 somehow, thats a marvelous season. To win a cup & qualify for CL next year would be awesome. Its going to difficult but its not something thats out of our reach.

Even if we play the youth and fringe players it gives Pochitino less time to prepare for the following league game

Only way I would support this is if we had a youth/fringe team and set Ehiogu to manage them

Agree but we would have a better chance if top 4 without europa

To keep our best players we need to qualify for the Champion's League next season. We've put ourselves in the shop window the last couple of seasons. If we want to hold on to players like Lloris & Alderweireld over the Summer then qualification is crucial.

If we do qualify for the Europa League I just hope we take it seriously.

We have come a long way, but there's still a long way to go. For a supposed big club our record of winning trophies over the last 20 odd years is scandalous. Season after season it's like we're only interested in coming top four. Point being we shouldn't be prioritising coming top four. If qualifying for the Champions league meant we could attract(and sign)star quality players and start paying big money in wages then I could sort of understand. Qualifying for the Champions league has not made much difference. The club wants the money. Surely as fans we only want trophies. We're out of 2 already this season. The Title is unrealistic. The Europa League and the FA Cup we have to try to win or what really is the point.

The irony of that is that some of the players who achieve CL qualification immediately become surplus to requirements when better players are attracted to the club. It's like working your nuts off to do a good job but then, instead of being part of the success you get kicked to the curb in favour of some new hotshot. If EL is our level (and I think it is) we should give it a good shot. We have plenty of decent players and prospects who never get on the pitch after all.

100% we need to be in the Europa and need to at least draw with CSKA.
We are Spurs we need to be in Europe and it's another chance for a trophy as wel have skipped the group stages, we need to fucking get to finals and start winning things it's a disgrace this club hasn't won a major trophy since 1990!!!

We were a cup side we need to get back to winning things

I don't think it'd effect us that much that would mean we wouldn't get top4, if we don't get top4 we weren't going to anyway, plus it's yet more European experience and game time for our young team.

I understand the people who want us to go for it to win a major trophy, I just think the F A Cup and the League are more major and I want to concentrate on those.

I would rather we not drop down to the Europa League. I don't like the principle of it to begin with and wouldn't enjoy any of the success as a result. FA Cup and League would be fine by me this season. Let the team earn their place in Europe again.
