Just read the Kulusevski thread from 2 weeks ago (hadn't been in it since) to see how a player can be scathingly written off. Bissouma is this weeks scapegoat. Yes he fucked up and his form isn't great, but you'd think we'd have learned by now not to write players off when their form drops (temporarily)

Are people writing him off? Not many that I can see but he deserves criticism for tonight.

Thought he was good against Newcastle but his form has been poor in general lately and what he did tonight is unacceptable, just like it would be if it was Romero or any other player. We need to stop being our own worst enemy.

Get. Rid.

Absolutely no discipline. The card only happened because of his awful first touch there.

Ange's face said it all. As did nobody going over to him aside from Royal, who is just a nice bloke.
you are on a bit of roll. Stupid foul by a player plagued by inconsistent play this year. far too much talent to throw in the towel this early in ange's tenure. On his day he is a class player and it is hard to find those guys without major transfer fees.

For comparison I mentioned how only 2 weeks ago Kulusevski was being written off; Richie, Lo Celso and Bissouma more recently. I just think the criticism is harsh. Players make mistakes or don't perform to their potential and they know when they do not reach the standards expected. I just don't see any benefits to looking at every poor performance so critically.

This is Bissouma's second red already and he's also been suspended for 5 yellows on top of that, and we're not even halfway through the season! How is that acceptable? That's just the reality of it. He isn't judged on this performance or action alone.

I'm not saying we should get rid but he needs to start learning from his mistakes.

We thought we had our new dembele, this guy has nowhere near the level of composure of moussa and not only has he let us down twice, but in general i would argue he has been one of the worst players on the pitch since his return from his first suspension. Bentancur can’t come back quick enough.
No one is in Dembele's league. No spurs supporter thinks or thought Bissouma is anywhere near him. Seriously mate..

Sometimes, he and Romero don’t have enough brains between them to make a platypus.

All over social media there's hyperactive Arsenal fans and so it's hard to imagine there's not a few in here, at least. Biss fucked up today but I've also seen similar not given recently. We got the three points, we pick ourselves up and move on etc.

Think it’s easy to pile on currently given the dip in form and the red card tonight, but he is a huge reason why we are in the league position we are right now given how he started the season. We should be sticking by him, trying to boost his morale when it’ll obviously be low, not go into full on Mark Goldbridge mode.

Well we ain’t gonna see him til March but I’ll put a reminder in my diary.

The response by some is quite alarming tbh. He was excellent at the start of the season and has clearly just hit a wee rough patch which Ange has said will happen with everyone in their first season learning his system. Ange is preaching aggression and winning the ball back at all times, and certain players will take time to find the line between positive aggression and recklessness. Especially players in the 6 role or CB.

Another thing I don’t agree with others on is the idea he’s been lazy or passive on the ball recently. I think it’s the opposite, he’s thinking too much and being ponderous. Early doors this year it was all instinct and fluid. Since his suspension and losing the safety blanket of Maddison alongside him in the midfield it feels like he’s trying to take on all comers at times instead of beating 1/2 and then playing the ball. He needs to come back and trust the system and his teammates and it will click again. He’s shown how good he can be in this style, I’m not worried at all.

So frustrating that our own players ill discipline is exacerbating our injury crisis and potentially undermining what we can achieve this season !!

Something happened after that Luton game, he looks half the player he was. Missing 5/6games due to suspension in the first half of the season is a disgrace.

It's not just his discipline, he's giving the ball away a lot. Maybe the time away will do him some good, he needs to improve. Weird how he's gone so off the boil, it looks like his confidence has been shattered.

I loved him at Brighton and he's been one of the main reasons for our great start early in. Let's hope it's a class is permanent form is temporary thing, because he's certainly a fantastic player.

I rem a convo with former head of academy John McDermott in one memorable visit to THFC, and he said that even for professional players, you will have your odd 5/6 out 10 games but the best ones are the one who can consistently trot out 7/8 and have a clutch of 9/10 in a season.

But it seems like the modern day football fans expect no less than a 7/10 every single game and start to slate our own players to no end, it’s reactionary and unnecessary

Yes Yves haven’t hit his early season form, maybe he’s carrying a niggle, maybe he’s playing with more fear ever since he lost a few balls that led to goals in the 4 match losing streak, maybe he’s trying to not get injured for AFCON, maybe like Richie there’s something going on in his personal life BUT

maybe n most importantly, he did NOT have the players around him at the start of the season to play off with!

He had VDV behind him, Udogie & Sarr beside him, and Madders ahead of him.

So yes, he isn’t performing at the level he is capable of, but it’s been what 10 matches since? Give it a break, he’s still an important first xi / team player for Ange’s soon to be challenging / winning THFC

Some of you really need to get out of your emotions every time something like this happens. I haven’t seen these kind of childish knee jerk responses in a while, probably since Ndombele left.

There’s room for valid criticism but wanting him gone over two incidents is just insane.

fully agree! the state of the match thread was something else. he's definitely not at the same level as earlier in the season but I would also imagine playing in a way where you know there's limited players to cover you (due to injuries, suspensions etc.) does your head in. His play has been more ponderous than instinctive & that's telling of his mental state (or maybe carrying a niggle). I think he will go to AFCON, get a change of scenery & come back stronger for our 2nd half of the season. Till then, as angry as I got with him for letting his teammates down, I'm not gonna throw him under the bus & want him out. He's gonna be a super important player for us this season & beyond

I don't feel like I'm being harsh or too reactive, however he's been in pretty terrible form since Luton. Up to Luton, he was simply unplayable, however since that sending off, something has happened to him. I've seen the debate on here re who our midfield three would be when all fit but for me it's pretty simple. Bentancur, Sarr & Maddison would be my three all day long and if we have a team who are going to sit in against us, I would probably go Bentancur, Maddison & Kulusevski. I rate Bissouma, he was one of our most important players at the start of the season but he seems to have lost his confidence again. He was breezing past players for fun early doors but he's stopped doing that, Ange needs to work with him to try and rediscover that form. Maybe he's playing within himself with the upcoming AFCON.

I agree, he seems to have lost that confidence and swagger but it’s completely understandable given the abrupt holt we had on our early form. That Chelsea game ruined more than just our chances at a title (which I still believe is minutely possible) but it seems to have rattled one or two players out of form.

Hopefully he can rediscover that form, we all know the player he is when he’s at his best.

It says it all that I wouldn’t even know he was playing last night until the red . Never picks up the ball deep and drives us forward , didn’t see any great tackles when we were under the cosh . Hojberg did more in 10 minutes than bissouma in the 75 mins he was on the pitch . No one can deny he’s been poor since Luton , many were saying he missed Sarr , now people saying he misses Maddison , he’s not a kid anymore and these are not mature performances from an accomplished player . Worrying signs for me .
