Was actually coming in here to say exactly the same thing. Proved me wrong twice now. Number 1 that he isn't an average, technically limited player and that he's in fact probably the best DM in the league at this moment and number 2 that Dier shouldn't be playing ahead of him. I rate Dier seriously highly, but Vic has changed my mind around totally about him now. He's absolutely quality and unbelievably consistentI thought this lad was a beast, a beast of the cart horse variety. I suggest there was nothing exceptional at Southampton to change my opinion. A good DM but nothing else. But frankly he is looking like the buy of the PL season now. The improvement has been fantastic and his performances are top class. He has added an extra dimension to our game. Most consistent player all season for Spurs. I take it all back Vic.
Wonderful fuckwittery from DunphyLOL... ok
Victor Wanyama isn’t good enough for Tottenham Hotspur, according to Eamon Dunphy.
The Kenya international helped the north London side ease to a 4-0 win over West Bromwich Albion at White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon.
The African star has formed a formidable partnership with Belgium international Mousa Dembele in the heart of Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
The 24-year-old moved to Tottenham in a £11m deal from Southampton in the summer transfer window as one of Pochettino’s five new signings.
Wanyama has scored two goals in 21 appearances in the 2016-17 Premier League season so far.
Speaking toRTE 2fm’spodcastGame On, former midfielder Dunphy admitted that he hasn’t been impressed with Wanyama.
“I wouldn’t have Wanyama. I don’t think he’s good enough to play in that team,” Dunphy said.
Tottenham are in second place in the Premier League table and seven points behind leaders Chelsea.
Spurs will make the trip to Manchester City in their next top-flight fixture at The Etihad on Saturday evening.
Pochettino’s side finished in third place in the table and 11 points behind champions Leicester City last term.

Apart from his obligatory yellow card, he was absolutely immense today. Fantastic destroying and good simple passing. I've been critical at times but he was excellent this evening
What a great signing Wanyama has been. Has cemented his place in the team with his performances this season. Not one team in the league could overpower us with him alongside Dembele. A formidable midfield partnership.
We signed him for 11 million ?
He only had a year left on his contract and refused a new deal so was cheap.
Would really love to see what a midfield pairing of him and a fit Dembele could do.
Shutdown I reckon.
How good is he?
I think Wanyama and Sanchez have been the two best players in the league by some distance.
I know it's been said about 100 times before in this thread but his performances this season have been nothing short of fantastic. For £11 million quid we have an absolute bargain - plus he is 25 years old so has many years of top level performances to come.
Absolutely correct. Clearly he is our player of the season so farI remember the days when we were crying out for a player like this. This is some player we have here. Every single time he goes on the pitch he is superb IMHO.
Some would say Kante for the Chavs is the best buy of the season, but for me Victor gets the vote. He is a fabulous player...with incredible heart and desire.
