It's only a body through the door for cover until the summer and that's it.

Any available cash will be used on the CB and CM targets, dragon (yeah, know) and Gallagher, if we can get it through.
Exactly, people complaining about this are being unrealistic, we aren’t going to splash cash in Jan on a CB, CM and ST, one of them was always going to have to be a creative loan.

Werner is quick, direct, can play across all 3 front positions and knows the premier league. Sure he’s not perfect but this isn’t some dud player he’s a really decent international footballer.

Reading up on some RBL fans views on him and it doesnt make for pretty reading. They think he is a shadow of his former self, is their 4th choice striker and I keep seeing comments about how he has lost his speed.

Lets hope a fresh start and new system will reinvigorate him. I just hope we arent getting bodies in for the sake of it as players that are in poor form and move in Jan dont usually make an impact.
What would our fans said about Son last season?

Confidence is so vital in forwards, under Ange’s guidance he’ll get a couple of early goals and take it from there…

His versatility is also a bonus with the squad so stretched

Is he not the exact same profile as Brendan Johnson aren’t we pretty much buying someone with the same weaknesses the Brennan has? Bit weird

More of a striker than Johnson, less capable out wide than Johnson imo.

But a terrible finisher and can’t dribble. Another attacker with poor ball retention and poor technical quality.

I think he scored more in one season than Johnson has in his career so I think he has something different to offer.

If we get Werner there are a lot of positives.

* he fits Ange's style and he wants him

* he knows the Premier League

* he has pace and has proven before that he can score goals

* he is hungry and has unfinished business in England

* he wants to get his regular spot back in the German national team. Goal: the EUROs in his own country this summer.

* he's still a very good player at a good age. And Ange has the personality to get the best out of Werner.

Yes from me. Especially with an option to buy.

… given the talk about January being a difficult time to bring in quality players, Werner is still - save wages - a very left field approach. However, our squad is getting thinner through injury & other competitions, so I feel it’s worth a punt; great if Ange coached him back to his pre-Chelsea days on several layers.

There's very little (if any) chance of getting a top quality front man in Jan, so as an option or cover maybe he can do a job.

A poor finisher, but has good pace.

During the end of yesterdays game, I was thinking to myself “We could really do with an option from the bench for the front 3 that is a pressing machine and fast to boot”. So with that in mind I’m actually pretty happy with this news.

I know I’ve mentioned a very specific thing above, but I honestly think that’s a huge hole in our squad. Even when we used to throw on Veliz, he had no mobility up top and was zero threat on the counter. For a 6 month loan it’s a very shrewd move to me anyway.

The issue with Werner at Chelsea was that he was a £60m signing expected to come in and be the main man in their attack. He's a perfectly good attacking option, clearly better than Solomon, Gil or Sessegnon.

People are acting like he's been a terrible player for years now but that's simply not the case. He had a goal contribution every other game for Chelsea, he scored 16 goals last year for Leipzig. He's a perfectly decent player, he's just not a £60m headline signing. Given the role we're signing him in, there's zero risk to this.
