He looks physically wrecked to me. If the club are smart we should allow him a few weeks to properly recover and have him back and firing at 100% for the season run-in.

There is no need to rush him straight back into the side IMVHO.

Reckon he'll be on the bench on Saturday.

But after Wolves we'll have a two week break until Brighton

It will be his decision and I bet he will want to be in the squad. It think he'll be on the bench.

Forget anything else, I want us to win something so Sonny's career with us wasn't ultimately for nought like H's when all said and done.
Sorry but I hate this. If we win nothing it doesn't mean it was all for nothing. There's so much more to the game than just a trophy. Son will be a club legend and his legacy will live on with the club. So many memorable moments in his time here and I'm sure there will be more. Obviously a trophy will cap it off nicely though.

We've had no Europe this year. He's played considerably less football this year than he usually would have. No reason why he doesn't feature

I think he’ll be on the bench but he has played a lot of football in the last 3 weeks - his body will be exhausted. It’s not just the amount of minutes played over the season - it’s the amount in a short timeframe that can lead to fatigued muscles.

A few weeks? No professional player takes a few weeks off mid-season just because of fatigue.

He’s been playing a lot of football, but it’s hardly been the most intense in terms of standard or pace.

He’d probably be just as fatigued maybe more so if he’d stayed here and played all our games.

I don’t think he’ll start but I expect him to be on the bench, and I would bet that he’ll come off on at some point and score a goal or two.

We play Wolves on the 17th. A few days rest and a few days fitness work to be ready to play in 10 days should be sufficient.

It's actually a bit of a result we have 2 weeks off after Wolves. Its like the AFCON and Asia cup players get the winter break they missed out on. I think a bench option should be fine until then and then they will have a much needed rest.

Not sure I agree.

He has played 600 minutes + stoppage time since January 15. They were not just having a walk about. And, only one of the games would have been considered "easy" for South Korea - with 3 knockout games, and the last two group games ending in draws with late goals.

The back-to-back 120+ minute games in particular would have left his muscles more fatigued than typical - and thus leave him a bit more susceptible to muscle injuries until he has a shot at real recovery.

I think he makes the bench, but does not necessarily play.

I'll be stunned if he starts at the weekend. I'm expecting to see him on the bench though.

Plus one has to take into account the mental drain. He might be physically back but he might not be “fit” to play. I’m sure he will want to be involved because that is his nature but I’m not sure how much he would actually bring to the table Saturday. Tbh we should have more than enough to win without him and ideally he will be an unused sub.

Great option to have off the bench on Saturday. Hopefully we can do the job without him though.

There are whole leagues that take a few weeks off.

Even the Premier League has scheduled at least one week off for every team in in January.
A competition taking a planned break to mitigate general fatigue is completely different to a player missing multiple consecutive fixtures due to fatigue.

The longest winter break in any of the 'big' leagues this season was 2.5 weeks, which is less than "a few".

It is not normal for a player to take several consecutive weeks off due to fatigue. If someone returns from international duty with injuries then that is different.

I'm not suggesting Son should be thrown straight back into our starting line-up, but suggestions that he needs a few weeks off (i.e. to not play for us until March!) purely due to fatigue seems rather excessive.

Jesus, just wait and see.

No one on here knows how much rest he'll need.

The amount of precise speculating is so pointless.
