Makes you wonder if we should get his father into our academy coaching staff.
I’ve seen the doc (I’m friends with the man you mention). Will be interesting to see what everyone thinks about it. Personally I found it a hard watch but it’s certainly fair to say his dad ‘manages’ his life closely. There was a guy on the Spurs Show podcast that has done a documentary on Son over the last couple of years which comes out soon. His Dad plays an enormous role in his life, basically every decision Son makes he gets his Dad’s approval on, and he does extra training with his Dad after finishing actual training at Spurs.
I’d still like him to tighten up on the run of games where he goes a bit awol, but he really is a global superstar.
Great stuff and that's very interesting, I was wondering about the "managed" part. They managed to spin it as a positive on the podcast but will be keen to watch it.I’ve seen the doc (I’m friends with the man you mention). Will be interesting to see what everyone thinks about it. Son is massively overperforming expected goals since 14/15. Same for Bergwijn, he will be back very soon to overperforming xG again as he was doing in 18/19 and 19/20 for both clubs(don't have data for his seasons earlier).A pessimistic view but it makes me nervous if he comes back down to Earth a bit. We're going to really struggle for goals. Which I suppose happened over the last couple of weeks.
Perfectly balanced front 3 that
I presume it's in reference to expected goals (XG), as that's the opta stat commonly used to analyse finishing. If I'm right, that means Son is scoring all of the shots he's expected to score, plus an extra 25%.What the hell does over-under shot quality mean? I mean, I can guess, but in practise...what is it?
Quite bizarre that you got a dislike for an imformative post.
How long can Son Heung-min keep out-running his own xG?
Data suggests that a player’s huge overperformance against expected goals catches up with them eventually, so are Son’s Europe-leading finishing stats destined to end or is he an extraordinary outlier?www.independent.co.uk
Found this interesting on the xG front...
Interesting article but having son and kane as outliers in theory can't continue
