So many issues with your post, so I will just address the main one.

Reguillon has not improved from when he joined us. Sessegnon has massively improved.

Conte can see that

The bar for Ryan was ridiculously low though. Hes been utter garbage for most of his time with us and Im certain he wouldnt be getting cut some much slack if he wasnt HG. He has a LOT of improving to do imo, if we are serious about challenging the top 2 this coming season.

Reguillon has a great attitude, hes quick, has a fantastic cross and a good engine. However, a number of his performances last season were very poor and he hasnt been much of a goal threat.

I was really hoping that we would bring in a new LWB as neither are good enough imo

We signed Perisic for LWB?

Massively improved? How many very good games has he had for us? I think you could count them on one hand with a finger or two to spare.

I will grant his best form was his most recent performances under Conte but personally they were more "hmm maybe there is something to work with here" than "our left side problem is over!"

Reggie has frustrated but I think his early form is still a lot higher than we've seen from sess yet.
People now think Reguilon isn't good because he missed a few chances. Would be the same for Sessegnon but he didn't even get a chances that he could miss :ROFLMAO:
The manager picked Sessegnon and then picked Doherty LWB ahead of him, he simply doesn’t rate the player.
What? There is only one example of PL game this season when Reguilon and Sessegnon were both fully fit and it was Sessegnon who started. Chelsea away, becuase he played as a winger.

He’s the only proper left back on the books (rather than LWB), and a good one at that!

Id be more inclined to loan and reassess next season. If our Manager was to change (God forbid) and someone comes in who plays with a back 4 then we may very well rue letting him go.

I also feel the same applies to Emerson
Davies is a proper left back if we ever should go back to a back 4. Although I'm sure Sess can do the job, he's just as good defensively as Reguilon.

I don't think Reguilon had a good season last year, but I still thought he was markedly better than Sessegnon, who looked like a scared child for most of the year. The HG thing is 100% playing a role here.

I think it's more a question of suitability.

Sessegnon is more of a wing back, it's just a question of if he can get up to level.

Reguillon isn't suited to the role.

You're right, I'm wrong, Conte prefers Reg over Sess.

That's definitely not true, since that Chelsea game you talk about, sessegnon started ahead of him against wolves, city, Burnley, Leeds, Everton, brentford. Doherty started left back ahead of him against villa. These are games he was on the bench.

I think that was true when Sess first came into the team - he always looks really timid and off the pace when he returns from injury.

When he got a run of games I thought he really grew into the role and started to look more like the player we thought we had signed. Towards the end of the season I was actively hoping he'd start over Reguilon as he's calmer and more intelligent on the ball and was starting to look like a genuinely decent wing back at both ends of the pitch.

Going forward, I'd prefer to keep Sess over Reguilon regardless of the HG rules.

Is it a HG issue though, some of the press have us linked with bringing in Estupian as soon as Reguillon moves, so no shift on HG numbers. Albeit the comments I saw this morning suggest Reguillon may only be a loan to start with.

Regardless of what people think, one is for sake and the other isn’t. Conte and club have made a decision so let’s move on

I'm assuming the loan offer is due to the lack of an acceptable transfer offer.

Sevilla hopeful of Reguillon deal

Sevilla are hopeful of securing a deal with Tottenham for Sergio Reguilon.
Sevilla loaned left-back Ludwig Augustinsson to Aston Villa on a season-long-loan yesterday.
Reguilon won the Europa League during a successful loan with Sevilla.

All of those games you said he wasn't fully fit. Covid, then coming back from it etc. Him and Sess had one training session before the Villa game

I think that came from Michael Bridge maybe.

He's an out and out LB in a LWB set up. If we'd love Conte long term then pure full backs like Regi and Emerson are worth cashing in on.
I personally think Reguillon has all the traits to be a greatwing back for us. Can't understand it. He's fast, has a decent cross and loads of stamina. Definitely better defensively than Sess and still young enough to develop.

Conte knows more about football than me but I still find this baffling. Unless they know something about sessegnons injury record and it getting better I think we' re risking a lot keeping him as number 1 choice.

I wouldn't say he's better than Sessegnon defensive wise but that's just my opinion.
