Crikey.. strange way to end things.. let's hope Emerson is more successful in the long quest to replace Kyle Walker eh...

Probably for the best really.

Like he's a decent enough player who just has to many brainfarts.

Anyone think he might just get paid off to leave early? If we have 4 rbs, no squad space and his contract ends in 12 months. Quite easily see him 'reaching an agreement' with the club.
might be right…for once

His agent has got him to sit tight and force the issue and he's now going to get decent wages in his next move relative to what he could earn if he left normally I reckon. A bit shit but there we are.

Yeah, pretty shit way to leave. Ally Gold has said for a while now that he had heard/felt like Aurier's agent had something lined up but were holding out until the last minute to get the best deal possible.

I feel a bit sad about this tbh. I like Serge, he's been linked with a move away for a couple of years but has stayed and generally been pretty good. He's not as bad as people make out, his defensive numbers are actually impressive and he can put in a good cross from a standing start. Limited technically and rash at times but before the signing of Emerson he was still the best RB on our books imo. Despite questions about his attitude at PSG, I've only seen him give his all on the pitch for us and making himself available for selection days after the death of his brother testifies to his commitment. By all accounts was a very popular figure in the dressing room too, wish him all the best.

I think one of the ITKs or Ally said that this might have been his move, leave it late and force the issue, except they thought it would be a low ball bid, not negotiating for termination.

From our point of view, it makes sense to pay him off at a one off figure which will be cheaper than paying his wages for the season and having him moping around. Unless we plan to use him this season, but that doesn't seem likely at all with two RBs ahead of him. It's a muggy thing to do by him, but it's clearly just business.

Would be best for him. I have all the respect, admiration & love in the world for Serge. Wasnt the greatest player, but he did well for us, always available & even played immediately after his brothers death which was incredible. Thank you for everything, Serge. Good luck in the future. Hope you land on your feet at a good club.

I actually liked him as a person, thought in general he carried himself well at spurs and seemed to be a guy always smiling and cheerful, although not afraid to speak his mind. He played when his bro has passed, his 2 years under Jose was actually decent and our most solid RB .... however for him to do this especially at the last minute screw him in terms of let him rot and banish him to training alone at different times so he is not near the first team or youth teams, its a dirty move and dirty trick and people say his agent this and that but he was complicit to it. He had all this time to move, actually he stated he wanted to leave last year .. People say he is entitled to this dirty tactic or then spurs are entitled to let him rot for a year and just banish him .... he wanted to go fair enough, we were happy for him to leave we get some money albeit a small fee due to contract only being one year, he can still get a decent sign on bonus due to the fee or just get higher wages due to the low fee

Can anybody argue otherwise that Aurier has been a complete an utter waste of money.

Albeit a snippet, but I think the AON Amazon doc probably reflected Aurier’s personality fairly well. He looked a lower level interference throughout. Almost immature. Well rid…

I always got the feeling that he was a bit of a loose cannon, and may well have been disruptive if not starting.

Hopefully this means he has a club lined up. He's had his moments both good and bad, but he's been a good servant to the club and I wish him well if he goes.
