You have to feel today is the day if it’s to happen at all.

Unfortunately for us, if you’re trying to get a signing in quickly, you’re really not in a strong position to negotiate with the selling club…

Time for us to stump up the cash then. Everything else is in place and we're just haggling now.

A little yes. I had mentioned this before but got a load of negs. 🤷
Hopefully we push it over because we really need a decent CB that Ange approves of.
Guys just be calm nothing to lose hope about yet with Dragusin and club still confident the player is waiting for us.

Thanks for sharing. Think we have to always be cautious with view that a player is “waiting for us” as we have all seen that can change very quickly. Hopefully an agreement isn’t far away, but considering how vulnerable we are at CB you can see why people are nervous!

I get that and deals are never certain even until the end but right now we are confident of bringing him and he wants to come here over Napoli or any other suitor right now . They’re not far away on the fee just gotta wait and see .

I'd love to know the precise details of how these negotiations actually work.

Do each party actually sit down with each other time and time again and give in a little more / less on the 'red-lines' / 'final offers' they'd previously agreed to having been all cocksure a day or two before? Surely it can't be as performative as that?

If it helps I always picture our negotiations going something like this

The confusing part for me is the price tag reported is extremely fair for a player of his age and quality. I hope we dont over haggle and miss out like we have in the past.

It works differently depending on who you are dealing with. With Italians you agree everything then come in next morning simply to sign the contract and they say they want more money, with the Dutch they always plead poverty say what they want and you negotiate until you are blue in the face then finally give them it. 😊
Nevertheless whoever it is it was always good fun.
That's my experience anyway.

Would imagine the Davies injury will ensure Genoa will not move on fee as they know we have a desperate need.
Our team are under pressure to get something over the line, Ange always said need for CB and early, so unless they have something else bubbling away that we dont know about then we just need to get this deal over the line and structured in an agreeable way

This feels like the typical back and forth. They get Napoli involved to get us to increase our offer. We threaten to pull out to put pressure on them to accept our offer. At the end of the day this is a big deal for Genoa so they want to get as much as possible. I'm sure we will get it done and we'll be talking down the line about "I can't believe we got him so cheap as well". Just like Vicario. Udogie, Kulusevski and Bentancur.

I'm happy if we can start VdV alongside Emerson next weekend. However no doubt we need to get this done ASAP. Another injury at the back and we're in trouble.
