I just cannot understand the level of vitriol against Hojbjerg. It's quite sad to see. He has his shortcomings as a player in certain systems, but he always gives 100%, is clearly liked within the squad, carries himself well. Wouldn't blame him at all for wanting to leave getting this kind of abuse.

Yeah I’m with you. He isn’t good enough to start for us and that’s fine. However he came on against Bournemouth when Sarr was struggling and did alright.
I’d like to see him sold personally but if he stays I hope he can be useful.

He's perfectly fine as an 8. I just don't like to see him as the pivot. Hopefully when Bentancur returns he will play the pivot if Bissouma is out.

There's no vitriol just a number of people who don't enjoy watching him play. I'd have preferred he left but such is life.

Jeez, Atletico aren't after him because they've hit the sangria early and have lost their minds.

Gallagher is younger and HG, but other than that Hojbjerg has the better pedigree and track record, we haven't been left holding the short straw here.

Fucking time wasters
Yeah the only blame in this saga should be lay at Atletico's door.

They wanted him, they have chased him, pleaded poverty, received transfer fees and still not got close.

I think 25m would have been a very fair price.

Why not be open to simple loan deals. We could have had Fati in and Hojberg out if we'd just accept loans the way they're meant to be. They aren't supposed to be a buy now, pay later deal.

What like the Reguillon deal to Man U? And the Spence deal to Leeds you mean?

Says a lot about the so called 'Leaders' and 'Warriors' Holjberg and Dier that they dont even want to play football.
Hojbjerg will play football if he stays here as he been doing this last
Few weeks.
I suspect that may reduce when Bentancur returns which will probably start again in the January window.

Højbjerg clearly wanted to go to Atletico, they told him they’d make an offer, but they made a shit offer, that’s not his fault. I can’t imagine he’s going to be happy sitting on the sidelines.

Hurts to hear that Fulham in fact offered 30M. He really should have taken that.

feels like if that domino had fallen we’d have sorted out all the rest.

Yep, really poor from AM. Feels like they've been telling PEH all summer that he's a top target and they want him, even telling him to not accept Fulham and hold out. Then, when they got their outs done they couldn't even make a permanent offer and barely managed half his asking price. Shame, really, because I think PEH and Gallagher in would have been really good for us.

If Bentancur has a successful return I think Pierre will leave in January as we'll have 7 CMs
If the reports that Bentancur is expected back in September or October prove to be true, Hojbjerg sticking around the club will give Benta a few months to get back up to speed before he’s truly needed.

Could work out very well for the club as I’d imagine a player of Hojbjerg’s quality will be in high demand mid-season and it’s not unthinkable he could demand a higher fee in January than what was offered now. He may also be more willing to leave if Bentancur relegates him to third-choice No. 6 just months before the Euros.

I'd imagine the Paulhino situation also played a role. If Bayern had followed through, than perhaps PEH would have been more open to the move, as he'd basically be replacing the latter. But with him still there, they'd be fighting for the same spot. Plus, yeah, the lure of Athletic would have been pretty tempting. Pity they came in with a pathetic offer. Can totally see why we wouldn't accept it. As they are taking the piss.

I think this is why PEH wasn't keen on the Fulham move as well. He knows he's going to feature a bit until January so he might as well wait for something better.

Biggest problem for him will be if people watch him play they definitely won't want him
