To be fair to Atletico, last time they dealt with us on deadline day, they thought they'd signed a player on loan, only to get him as a free agent the same day. Can't blame them for holding out to see if we panic again.

We're not gonna release Hojbjerg on a free though are we?

he turned down the move to fulham so stick him in the reserves, make an example of him & dier who have had adequate offers and refused to leave

We cant force players to downgrade and go to clubs they dont want to play for. Punishing him for that would be ridiculous imo. I can understand the logic if he turned down AM though.

I honestly don’t understand why some people seem to want to punish our players just because they don’t agree to a move away and are honouring the contract that we have given them. These are real people we are talking about here and if they don’t want to move, so be it-we cannot force them and they may be reluctant for a multitude of reasons. Maybe they have a young family, maybe they are settled in this country, who knows but I really think it’s sad when people are having a go at these players-it’s not a computer game FFS and sometimes I feel people forget that.

Hojbjerg won't going to rot in the reserves. If he goes then fine, if he stays he will play a part. As for Dier & Lloris, can't see us offering to pay off their full contract to get rid as they'll both pick up a deal elsewhere tomorrow, if they don't accept just leave them on the side-lines training away from the team.

So be it. He’s looked decent when coming on the close a game down along with the 1st teamers.

would have been better for all parties to move on but it is what it is.

he’s not one that should be banished.

all well and good coming on when we are in a commanding position, but if biss or sarr get a injury and he starts, its a big problem, versus Fulham he was horrific

the thing is, unlike Dier, Hjojberg is likely to get minutes if he stays as we won't be getting Gallagher in, and he has already featured a bit off the bench in order to defend a lead etc. He won't be a starter but he will likely feature

This is a disgraceful take. Not just Pierre, but for you to say we should make an example of Dier who's been a loyal servant of the club for like 10 years?

You can tell a player that they may struggle to get minutes on the pitch or that they're not top of the manager's squad plans, but you can't force a player to accept a move they're unhappy with. I don't know what job you do, but would you be happy if your manager told you that you were being transferred to Skegness and had to take a pay cut?

What does it say to prospective new players if they see how a club treats their existing players badly? You have a duty of care for your employees, and want to show that they can advance their life and career by being with us, not just be discarded at any time because a new manager has different plans.

Hasn't Postecoglu used him in all our games this season? Truth is if he stays he'll be a good squad member, he may not start very often but he'll be used without a doubt.
We all expected him to leave but he is still a good player and it's not going to let us down, he ain't no Ndombele either.

Fulham are his level. Must have a bit of an ego to think he's better than this. We're basically stuck with him until January at the very earliest...

I‘m not stood outside Dier’s house with a pitchfork or booing him in the stadium.

We’re not obligated to respect a football player’s decision not to play football.

I don’t hate the guy, I just feel he’s letting himself down for the wrong reasons, which in the end may backfire anyway.

Just go play football.

I really wish to see the back of Dier, Hojbjerg and Lloris, mainly truly because I hope the rebuild under Ange can be 80% done right away when we can possibly allow but don't do it.

Why not be open to simple loan deals. We could have had Fati in and Hojberg out if we'd just accept loans the way they're meant to be. They aren't supposed to be a buy now, pay later deal.

Never been fussed about selling him. I only felt he was the more likely we could shift of the midfielders so could have used the extra space in the squad to sign someone else. It still seems even if he goes we still can't shift enough to get a CB as we clearly need. I'm happy enough for Hojbjerg to stay, he gives good competition for midfield. I just will be gutted if we don't get a CB.

I just cannot understand the level of vitriol against Hojbjerg. It's quite sad to see. He has his shortcomings as a player in certain systems, but he always gives 100%, is clearly liked within the squad, carries himself well. Wouldn't blame him at all for wanting to leave getting this kind of abuse.
