33 was his number in European competition for first season i believe, has always been 11 for us in the league.

Trust me, I’m a massive squad number geek lol.
Wasn't it because we'd alteady given the squad numbers to UEFA and nobody else could take 11 because it was designated Bale?

I agree with this and @bbunc

If Hojbjerg goes - I'd like to see a 6 come in as a replacement - even though I think that may be Bentancur's best position.

I think Maddison and Lo Celso are ideal as the creators.

I think Sarr, Skipp and Bentancur can play more of the industrious box-to-box role.

But, right now only Bissouma is a great 6. (I think Sarr, Skipp, and Bentancur could play the 6 if required, but not as effectively from a defensive point of view)
I think Hatate might be looked at. Hopefully not Gallagher

I’m sure I remember him making his debut against Arsenal wearing 33, and then the number changing once Bale left. Was ten years ago though so who knows.

I keep reading this but if he goes that leaves us with 6 midfielder for 3 positions - Skipp, Biss, Sarr, Maddison, Lo Celso, Bentancur. Ange has said each of these players are in his plans so I doubt we'll add a 7th. That would be complete overkill for a team that has no european football.

There’s this dated belief that every backup has to play that particular role in exactly the same manner as the first choice. Sarr could be backup 6 without playing exactly the same way as Bissouma. A good manager, as I believe Ange is would be able to train his midfield trio into performing in different ways. If Bentancur is relatively close to fitness I think that 6 is easily enough and we should focus on more important positions i.e another CB and forward player.

If he goes, we'll need a 6 to cover Bissouma. Gallagher cannot be the replacement. Should be a guy like Luiz. Adams' £20m release clause is enticing. Though I think Brighton will be all over that.
I think Bentancur can also play as the 6 once he’s back.

The. You’d have Maddison, GLC, Sarr and Skipp as the 8’s.

Does this give Atletico the money to make their bid work?

Wow that didn’t take long for them to drop their loan fee from €17 mil to €7 mil. Like 24 hours. Honestly not sure how much this we’ll help us tho. Atleti were certainly hoping for more. Wonder where Fati ends up. Kind of feels like there’s a lot connected to this deal

This is kind of like Griezmann, they do some funny deals between themselves. Whether we can get the asking price for Hojbjerg now remains to be seen. Personally would have just taken their offer anyway. He's one of a few who we seem to have a good chance selling.

Pretty sure their offer was under 20m Euros.
