It's also hard to pass the ball forwards when no fucker makes any sort of run!

You can apply the same logic to our CBs. Our midfielders were always outnumbered and our forward line would routinely stand still. Thus the Hojbjerg, Dier, Romero triangle became a thing of legend.

If we get Maddison, bentantcur and Bissouma fit then he doesn't start, good squad player at best, but if we can get good money for him and keep Skipp and Sarr then can see him being the one sold.

My concern is he's on the way down now and we so often keep players like him too long. How often have we had these battling central midfielders who give us a couple of strong years and tail off or get injured? Palacios, Sandro and Wanyama all spring to mind. He'll be 28 when the season starts which is fine in some positions but may be tough for him in a higher intense midfield. I see people talk about him being run into the ground but he shouldn't be. There have been plenty of weeks rest to recover this season. He's still had bad performances in those situations too. Very much a hot and cold player.

He was hardly given a break in a midfield that was usually outnumbered and overrun. Not surprising that he ran out of gas later in the season. I do think he's the obvious choice to be sold, but I'm loathe to criticize his performances under the circumstances. Like all of our midfielders, he'd have been a lot more comfortable in a CM3.

Get Maddison fit? He hasn’t signed for us…

Personally think you need your forwards to hold their position to offer an out ball or come towards the ball if your defence and midfield aren’t breaking the lines themselves and drawing players out. If the other team can keep their shape there is no effective space to move into.

He deserves criticism when he plays badly just as he deserves praise when he plays well. Playing 2 in midfield doesn't automatically give his a pass to play poorly.

Someone said earlier that he doesn’t hide - I disagree, I have seen him on countless occasions get in a position where there is an opponent directly between him and the ball making no effort to move to where he can receive the ball. He then points to other players to show who he thinks we should pass to. If you contrast that to Bentancur, who always shows for the ball by moving and ensuring there is a pass on and he also isn’t afraid to receive it with players around him.

Like the guy but it would be smart to ship him if we can get a fee. If AP rates him then so be it but imo, he doesn't take us to the next level which is what we should be looking at.

This, I mean I’m 47 and still play 7 aside. I literally want the ball at every chance I can. Simple short triangular passes to keep control between a few then pass and move forward again. It’s easy.

As said above, he's probably on a downward trajectory now, we have youngsters coming through in his position, there will not be a better time to sell.

He's had some great moments at the club, and I thank him and wish him well.

Lots coming out in support of PEH but how many of you would turn down £20m for him with two years left?

Decent player well suited to a mid table counter attacking team

Not had much chance to see him in a midfield 3 which is part of the problem. Don’t think he’s great in a 2. My issue with him is he’s slow, often looks to pass back. Again that could be what he’s been instructed to do.

I defend him, but would also accept selling him. To be the anchor man in a team with our shocking defence must be fucking exhausting. Right now I am of the opinion that whatever Ange wants (or doesn't) should happen.

Definitely would have the likes of bentacur and bissouma ahead of him. Much better players.

If we receive a good offer it would be hard not to take it for him.
How can you say that Bissouma is a better player than Højbjerg when he's hardly played for us ??? ... what he did at Brighton doesn't matter... we've seen plenty of players through the years who have been good players at another club and when they come to Spurs they don't deliver... either because they are not as good as we thought, they get injured or because they become a victim of the bad recruitment/managerial roulette of our club...

So... Bissouma hasn't shown anything yet really 🤷‍♂️ only in a high-flying Brighton team.

Another thing... I wouldn't even compare Højbjerg and Bissouma. Because IMO they are not the same kind of CM's.

Bentancur is just class and a complete midfielder. He has shown that at international level, for Juventus and for us... no doubt... we need him back big time.

Both Højbjerg and Bissouma should be given the chance to impress Ange... if they can do that and Ange can use them, then there is a place for both of them... Bentancur is a no-brainer.
