a natural leader :ROFLMAO:.. funny how the other players don;t seem to respect his leadership as much as the SC crowd..

as for BUsquets comparisons. Just leave this here for you

I'd be a bit embarrassed to have posted that on a Spurs site.

Not including anything good he did that game is so bias it's the kind of thing a rival fan would do, not something you'd expect to come from a fellow Spurs supporter.

I get you might not rate him, which is fair enough and the forum is here for discussion, but posting that video overshadows any of the fair points you might have been making. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt though and hope that you stumbled upon that video without knowing the better bits he did in that game were edited out.

I think now the window has closed that any discussions about Hojbjerg not being good enough for our 11 are moot.

I think he has a lot of qualities and whilst I am hoping in the summer for a Bissouma sized upgrade, I think Hojbjerg absolutely has a place in our squad and is the type of player you want in your lockeroom. I think he's a lot better than people give him credit for and I think next to the likes of Bentancur and the fact over the last 4 weeks he's had a significant amount of rest, I think we're going to see a great version of him.

This is a player who was outstanding in the Euros for Denmark. Voted into the team of the tournament. We have run him into the ground. At least now he has had some rest and won’t have to play every minute. Hope to see the best of him in second half of the season.

I really do wish people would stop using international football as some sort of measuring stick to tell us how good/bad a player is.

International football is dogshit & how a player has performed for their country means absolutely fuck all. I'll point you in the direction of Mr Lo Celso if you're wanting proof of how International displays mean Jack shit when it comes to performing in The Premier League.

Hojbjerg himself admits he's not the best footballer. Why can't people on here accept that, while appreciating what he can & does bring to the party.

Could he be improved upon? Of course he could. But does he have a place in the squad, a use that benefits the unit as a whole. Yes!

I'm glad we're having this conversation. I remember I found a compilation on twitter of Winks FA Cup cameo performance vs Everton and for the 30 minutes he was on the pitch, he made mistake after mistake after mistake. I shared the compilation as some posters, who didn't watch the game, wanted to understand why everyone in the matchday forum was hounding and insulting Winks. Once I shared it, I got accused of not being a real Spurs fan and being toxic to the fanbase. Even though, fans in that thread were being incredibly disrespectful to Winks, I crossed the line by sharing the video of his performance. The disconnect for me is that sometimes posters will overlook vile and hateful comments during the matchday threads ( claiming that it was in the heat of the moment ) but making/sharing a video of the awful performance is somehow worse? But what If I watch the game again and wrote a scathing post-match performance? Is that okay because I didn't bother to make a compilation? Are words less harmful than the video footage? ( not having a go at you, just felt your post hit on a interesting point )

He does look at times that he's played too much football. He's played pretty much every game for us, plus the Euros.

At least we now have options in CM and can rotate accordingly.

Although looking at our schedule...?

There's a reason why he's been an ever-present under every manager.

Proper warrior.

'nough said.
I've been overly critical of him at times, and I'll admit that if he keeps putting in performances like he has recently he'll prove me wrong (if he hasn't already), but it fucks me off when people call him a warrior.

He isn't, he a whiny little bitch. Not necessarily a bad thing as every team needs them and it can certainly work to your advantage, but we really need to stop with the warrior/Viking bullshit.

He's a warrior in the sense that he never gives up and always pushes everyone around him to do better.

Regarding the whining, I think the majority of top players use the 'dark arts' to influence referees, etc.

Most of our lot are too nice, so I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing that Hojbjerg moans.

This should be the absolute minimum requirement of any PL footballer who is looking to be successful, and is the reason that Ndombele, Gio and Dele have been shown the door by Conte. Yes, Hojbjerg does this, but you can say the same about Lloris, Dier, Kane, Davies and even Winks to an extent.

I know I'm going a bit deep now but it amuses me that he's often referred to as a warrior when he's usually the one going down under the slightest touch, rolling around 20 times, and hopping straight back up to confront someone if they take exception to it.

This might sound stupid.
But him having COVID was actually a good thing. Came back much stronger and rested imo.

An ever present in a period that we've played the most horrible turgid football in recent memory, it really isn't the glowing reference you think it is.

Wheres was that 'warrior' spirit when we needed it the most? It was moaning at other players for his own failings.

For me, PEH is limited athletically but seems to know how to get the most out of his abilities. He has limited passing range, is slow and does not have great agility which limits what he can do but he always works hard, knows where he is supposed to be and tries to push others to provide the same level of commitment. For us to be a regular top 4 side and push for trophies, I do think we need to be able to replace him in our top 11, but I see him as a very valuable squad member with plenty of opportunity for playing time.

I think Skipp has a higher ceiling but is still developing and right now PEH offers us the best chance against many opponents. Just don't get the "He is Great" or "He is Awful" posters. For me he is neither and every good team needs a few players like that.

I don't think anyone here is claiming he's a world class player that qualifies as a great player. What the majority of us pro PEH are saying is a lot of the shit that gets thrown his way is unwarranted. Yes he's limited in certain aspects and is not a guaranteed starter if we buy a whole new midfield. The reality is of the options we've had for the past 2 years he's been one of the better ones and doesn't deserve the hate he's getting for putting in the effort he does, almost always available to play, chipping in with important goals and assists as well as making big blocks and breaking up play. He's never gonna be Modric or Dembele level of good. Even he knows that. But he deserves enough respect from our own fans to not be so disrespectful about the positive things he brings to us. The fact he gives a shit about our club after we've had "better" players come in and be shipped out showing the club major disrespect with their lack of effort to make their time here successful should be enough.

Welcome to the simple mind of a football fan. There are only really the two polar opposites, he is great we need him. Or he is awful - sell.

It is always such a temporary thing as well. Lucas is a great example, he really does have his off days and they are frequent, but now and again he strings a few games together where he looks deadly. What are fans to do?

Well they yo yo, from the extremes on almost a weekly basis.

Anyway, for me hoijberg is much better when he is winning the ball in the opposition half, pressing high. He is ok sitting deep, but for me he would be perfect in a 3, bentancur sits and Skipp and hoijberg pressing high.

We saw it against Leicester (with winks holding). I really believe Conte will go for this when Skipp is back.

With hoijberg, his abilities in the attacking third are severely underrated, his passing and movement in this area are very good, he just doesn't look graceful on the ball.

This is why adding one more box to box midfielder (bissouma/kessie) would be needed. Not for upgrading but to have options.
