Are you talking about his post from months ago when he pressed the buttons so it sounds like 'When the Saints go marching in' (a Southampton chant)?
Oh, it just popped up today again for Oh When The Spurs... ah, disappointed now haha

I think Højbjerg will be one of the first names on the teamsheet, so hopefully it will be a thing of the past in games that matter going forward. Ideally Sissoko gets himself a move this summer to truly end it though.
Hojbjerg cant play every game. Also, one injury to him and it’s back to Winks & Sissoko every game.

Not sure if transfermarkt is good for injury history, but seems he hasn’t been injured in a while. Even if that’s not super accurate, I’m sure if there was anything major it would be there.
He missed games after lockdown with small ankle injury. First time he missed since 2013 or 2014

You'd best let, among other people, Gareth Southgate know. Winks comes in for a lot of the same stick as Modrić got during his time with us and people seem to have forgotten (or are ignoring) that he's consistently been asked to fill a role for us that he's not really suited to (at least not in England). I believe he will rotate with Lo Celso (who will also rotate with Dele further forward) alongside Højbjerg and remind everyone why managers are so keen on him. This does lead me to a question though... What is Højbjerg's injury record like?

In no where in the post, I say we sell winks to manage Ward Prowse... I would certainly take someone like Ward Prowse ahead of Sissoko and I think Ward Prowse( whose contract will expire in 2022 and will be in similar situation to Hojberg) has more in his locker in the final third and set piece situation than Winks. That's just my observation ... I am not slagging Winks here ... Don't get so much hype over a simple post where I clearly said to some extent he is better than Winks ...

About Hojberg, he rarely get injured if I am not wrong ....

I think his recent "injuries" were of the variety that giggs used pick up before international games when playing for utd.

For those who missed it, here's Hojbjerg talking on a podcast with Andy Brassell ,couple of months back....

Just finished listening to this, guy speaks with such intelligence and maturity for a footballer so young! Hopefully translates into his quality of play(y)

The more you read/watch/listen, the more you realize that his value to the team could be immense in terms of helping the players around him to elevate their game. While not rubber, our midfield's mentality has been less than steel over the since Dembele left. And while we have had quality players in midfield, there have been few leaders there that were vocal in their criticism of fellow players when deserved (it's logistically hard for a goalie to criticize a forward as we all saw with Sonny). And when there is that solid rock in front of the back (as we saw with Victor and Dembele), the pressure on the defense is eased and the attacking mids and forwards have a greater license for a slightly riskier play. This isn't to say that Pierre is that guy, but if he is what we are all telling ourselves he might be and if he gets the Jose tactics, this guy could be the guy that allows Spurs to leverage the full talents of quite a few players rather than shoe horn them into a make shift strategy.

The last part is clearly not true. I watched him quite a lot in the PL and as a Norwegian I tend to follow Nordic players more closely than I would otherwise do.

I'm not suggesting we are signing him as Pirlo of course. Got nothing to do with my evaluation of this transfer. To me this is not such a "slam dunk" it seems like many are making it out to be - that is it. I'm not even suggesting he won't be successful at Spurs. I think there is a very fair chance he will, but also a fair chance that he won't necessarily be a key player for us.

The same way Sissoko is criticized for not being able to pass (which he clearly isn't) you need to have a certain basic level for the rest to work. I am not convinced Højbjerg is able to reach that level. I hope so, but certainly not a given for me.

I agree with that. I also don’t think passing is an isolated attribute, you need to be able to work the space to even be able to make simple but progressive passes that a defensive minded player in a good team should have. it’s not even about them being Hoddle or Pirlo it’s more being able to deal with being pressed or receiving the ball back to goal where my doubts are with Hojbjerg.

You hear a lot you don’t have to be a great passer to play DM and list players like Makelele Kante, Khedira, Wanyama or whoever but they don’t take into account their ability to manipulate the ball, get out of trouble not just dump the ball back where it came from or play a hospital ball because you feel a man on you. That’s what seperates a good DM from an average one. I love his energy and aggression he will bring but I don’t think we would look at him if his contract wasn’t running down. That’s not being negative for the sake of it or going by what Southampton fans are saying that’s just watching him play entire games.

Only our fans are like this.

PEH is a signing that allows us to set up differently. We won’t do that every game. However by having him we give the likes of Skipp and chance to develop into someone capable of fulfilling the role

Exactly. PEH doesn’t need to be a world beater to significantly improve the team as a unit. That extra freedom he could offer the midfield and attackers would work wonders.

Makes me utterly baffled as to why Skipp is the one being considered for loan in what will be a long hard season with plenty of minutes to go around. Can't we loan Sissoko to the Championship instead?

I was totally underwhelmed by the signing of Wanyama when it was announced, but boy did he prove me wrong when he joined. I just had him down as a destroyer, but he had far more ability on the ball than I ever gave him credit for until I watched him week in and week out.
I feel the same about this signing and just hope the outcome is the same (without the persistent knee injury which led to big Vic’s decline and subsequent departure).

Time will tell I suppose

Could be Winks and Lo Celso more than that, especially with a better right back. I think Sissoko is used more to help Aurier but when he is replaced I think Sissoko plays less. We shall see though. I still fancy Alli to start a lot and Lo Celso to play as an 8 so Winks would be a straight swap for Hojbjerg.

Skipp is being considered for a loan because Skipp fells he needs consistent games to improve. Wasn't Jose very up front about that when Skipp signed his extension?
