It's because Levy is always asking for way to much for our unwanted players. Hence our squad getting bloated with mediocre players cause no one ever bites.

The days of Sunderland and Stoke buying our dross for top money are long gone.
Don’t forget Portsmouth! :playful:

We have 3 RWBs, Spence by all accounts and it makes sense could be loaned out immediately. Spence out Porro in why does it need to be so hard. We make these things painful.

Because when pre season starts we'd then have 4 RBs (5 if you count Tanganga) and 4 LBs (5 if you count Davies).

We need to bloody sell!

Too right! Poor sod doesn't get a game against Portsmouth in the cup, and is now being used as a reason as to why we can't get a player the coach actually needs. Awful, awful stuff from the club. If Conte didn't want him, and Levy bought him anyway, then it can't be used as a justification for us not buying the first team RWB Conte actually wants for the system. It's the sort of logic which makes you think Conte would be perfectly justified in walking out.
Again, weren't we trying desperately to sell or loan Royal or Doherty anyway? and that remains the case. Spence would have allowed us to do those deals without replacing them immediately if we were incapable.

Were we desperately trying to do those things? I have no idea. It’s somewhat irrelevant anyway if you buy a player the coach won’t play for this purpose. The argument would work if we had bought Dumfries. Conte would sooner play Kulusevski at RWB than Spence.

Probably not a popular opinion, but with Conte and his pure focus on players who are ready, each summer you're probably going to have to buy one young player not on his want list. This is just future planning, and with Sarr and now Gil, he's proving he can actually use them.

Conte got 4 players in his sweet spot this summer, then he got Spence.

Back to the main point. Porro will be a starting rwb. Even if you totally ignore Spence, buying him means we'd need to shift one of our current first team rwbs. The main issue appears to be how unappealing the rwbs Conte inherited are to other clubs.

Yeah I just can’t see this happening lads.

Well stick with what we have for the remainder of the season, much more convenient ??‍♀️

Would make sense. Chelsea need a replacement for Azpilicueta, James is broken and they can ignore a developing player in Chalobah.

Personally I'm convinced we'll never have a good right back again, so I'm very blase about it.

As much as I hate Chelsea and the amount of business they're able to get away with, we have ourselves to blame too. We can't (allegedly) be very interested in a player and expect to have all window to conclude a deal with no interference from any other club.

Unfortunately as seems to be the case way more often than not, the best we can hope for in general is to shift certain players.
