Mason had far more ability on the ball. He scored some good goals and was deceptively quick across the ground. Skipp is nowhere near mason or winks in terms of technical ability, and they still couldn't make it here in the long term (I think Winks would have under Ange but he didn't have the determination or strength to play without the ball for conte and Jose). Skipp has a fantastic attitude loves a challenge and is positionally disciplined though. He would be a good addition for Sheffield United or West Ham teams who set up to not dominate the ball.I see him as the Mason that Poch had when he arrived. He works hard and has bought into the manager. However he's not of the quality we need to push on going forward. Fine for this initial season under Ange though.
insightful. way to refute any argument.Nothing wrong with Skippy; nothing at all.

the sarcasm went right over your head. and the sarcastic answer wasn't due to the fact that he disagreed with me, that's fine and I welcome it. but come out with a point, not with some rhetoric bullshit.Says the bloke who just asked the mods to take the thread down because somebody disagreed with him.
I'm not interested in an argument. Just stating my opinion.insightful. way to refute any argument.
I know! Cos Winks is smashing it at Leicester now some people forget how often he was wrestling with players (and losing those bouts) because he could not keep up with them. He had no physicality at all like a CM Bryan Gil. Skipp is much better than him, he is quicker, stronger and his movement is better. He puts himself about and he could easily have made a couple of goals in the last two games with bursts down the right and crosses into the box. I am happy to have him in the squad as a utility player to help out, not everyone will be top top notch in any squad and Skipp still has much to offer us over the remainder of the season. So now Winks, the worst midfielder who got pelters for this last year or two is better than this guy?
The current thinking where players are either world class or shit can absolutely get in the bin. Skipp is neither and is not the only player of ours who is inconsistent at the moment but I'd prefer him to Pierre every time.
Saw this again on Twitter earlier today:
He's obviously fallen behind Bentancur, Bissouma and Sarr for when everyone is fit - but as a homegrown rotation player he's got a role left to play this season. That being said I think we can all agree that without a strong second half then there's a good chance he's moved on in the summer.

because that wasn't his game to play in a system that required that of him. Just as its not skipps game to play in a system that requires you to be good on the ball. Winks is a technically better footballer Skipp is a more determined footballer. Neither of them are the best at what they did in this squad so neither of them are what we needed.I know! Why does he need to move on? As has become abundantly clear, Ange likes players that are adaptable - across the back, through midfield and in forward positions. Skipp is just the kind of player we need; he can provide cover, he's homegrown; he's eager to learn, he's a leader within the group and he's a good all-round pro. Let's bin off the likes of Ndombele instead, and keep the players that can actually do a job, don't make a fuss and work for the team.
That bit of skill between two players and nice calm pass at Man City which led to our equaliser shows he has more about him than he gets credit for.because that wasn't his game to play in a system that required that of him. Yep. No concept of a role player or a young player who can improve.I swear some of you lot would never be happy with anyone. They are never going to be good enough No matter who it is.
