Not at all, that group stalled and disappointed us when it mattered most. Dembele provides little offensive assistance and we need to grow as an offensive team. I'm tired of lining up 2 defensive minded midfielders against freaking Southampton at home.

don't disagree re DM's, although I'm a huge fan of dembele. whether he's in decline or not is the bigger question.

I'd like a CM, but these are the players who have got us top 4, 3 seasons in a row. they're hardly shit!

The window that just keeps giving. Never been a fan of Dembele so a crocked Dembele is just outstanding stuff,

Such a superb player apparently but apparently no offers.

If you can’t appreciate how good Dembele is I suggest you find a new sport, amazing talent and so underrated.

he's 31, injury prone and is looking for a long contract...

I don't understand how anyone doesn't rate a fit dembele. wins and retains the balls, drives the team forward, is incredibly strong, skilful and uniquely graceful. the counter is he doesn't contribute enough offensively, which has some truth, but he's a deep lying midfielder who regularly starts attacks. modric's productivity stats aren't great either (and pretty much no player is 'complete').

Check out the stats of spurs win percentage with and without Dembele since Pochettino has been in charge.

He's a workhorse but for me doesn't score enough goals or assist enough. I've loved watching his elegance and strength in the middle of the park but with a year left of his contract he really should be moved on so we can blood someone else now. We really should get someone in so we can ideally let him leave after our transfer window closes or in January, just my opinion of the Moose after seeing him slowly wind down

Probably the most frustrating player at Spurs for a long time. So much talent and so little end product.
Should be world class but just isn't, hasn't got the mentality.

Lovely dribbles from the centre circle, gets to the edge of the box and clueless resulting in sideways/backwards passes.

Massively on the decline and no other place to go so he'll now stay on after his agent was stating he'd leave all summer. We're just going to see more of him giving the ball away/out muscled or just limping off.

I don't necessarily disagree, although it seemed like this was the case after a very slow start last season and then he produced probably the best spell of his career. my point is really that I can't be 'so disappointed' with dembele, dier, wanyama when they've all been pretty consistent (disregarding wanyama's injury). dembele will be the toughest to replace imo, he's world class and has a very unique skill set. diaware at napoli probably would've been the best bet from the very little I've seen.

Stats can show loads of things presented in different ways.

Modern football for me is not about wrestling an opponent and then back healing and going back and having another go then passing sideways/backwards.. It's about moving the ball forward quickly and incisively - hence me not joining the Dembele lovein

had a few poor games at the end of last season, having played some incredible matches prior to that. I didn't realise his mentality was in question? Virtually single handedly got us back into the Juve match and was MOTM in that ridiculously tough spell before and after, which was make or break for CL.

I've got a lot of time for Dembele but I say it as I see it, he gets near the box and looks for a teammate too much. He has it in him to shoot and I believe he had a spell in his career early on as a striker if I remember correctly, yet we see him shoot a handful of times a season. For me I think he comes up short being called World Class because he has the tools but there's some kind of block/ reason he doesn't utilise them.

For me he has a very unique skill set but this can be replaced for a different type of midfielder that could just as well offer us a different kind of dimension if we were to make a move to do so this window

I’m not disputing he’s on the decline, was just amazed how any spurs fan can’t rate him, after all most of our players say he’s the best, Poch says "He is a genius, no?"

I would prefer to keep him around and let our younger players learn from him.

For me the thing that's telling that reaffirms my concerns about his decline are his fouls committed. I saw an awful lot of late tackles last season compared to the previous seasons that made me think he was losing his pace and ability to be as quick as the game required him to be. Last year he won less tackles and made more fouls, never a good sign for someone so strong

Supporting spurs I want us to win and we win more often with Dembele playing.
I get why not everyone loves Dembele as his playing style is unusual but he is dam affective

but we also need to physically dominate other midfields, which not many passers can do. he has a great mix of not just being a stopper and being able to transition. I don't see the issue in his lack of goals - dier, wanyama, kante, henderson, fernandinho (chips in with a few more) etc are hardly prolific.

His unique skill set set is football wrestling. That's coming to an end as shown by Pogba mugging him last season. More of that to come I'm afraid as his body ages and becomes weaker with his injuries.

Many thought Modric was too lightweight for the PL when he first arrived. Many saying he should be pushed out wide left. Modric is small but World Class and a truly outstanding player who after adjustment owned centre mid, was a pleasure to watch subsequently attracted and ended up at Madrid. If Dembele was more than a wrestler he'd of gone there as well.

I want to like Dembele but for his talent he just has too many limitations and often suffocates attacks.

Check out his opts stats on tackles won and fouls made. Sadly Mousa is losing it.

Also the players you've highlighted reg Kante, Henderson, Fernandinho share a midfield with more creative players. We already have Dier and Wanyama who do similar jobs to them so it makes Dembele even more redundant as he gets a little more creaky.

Personally I've loved Dembele but I think him staying for a further year, especially if he starts most of the time like he has will see us concede more fouls and see the game pass him by a lot more than we are used to.

With a year left of his contract, we really should be moving heaven and earth to proactively bring in his squad replacement
