Not a bad debut at all. His pace and seeming ability to sniff out danger are going to be major assets.

BTW, Sanchez played very well too. Maybe the new system suits him. We know he's certainly got pace as well.

Thought he was really good.

Brentford away is a really tough place to go on your debut and he lost his partner Romero early on, yet it didn’t faze him.

His composure surprised me and he is so fast. His movement and passing style remind me so much of Vertonghen.

I thought he looked a lot more ready than I thought he’d be, really encouraging.

He was really, really good today. Dealt with danger, composed on the ball, quick on the recovery. Just a very solid debut. Could be a massive signing for us.

Very, very good especially considering he’s only been here a week. Calm and in control with the ball and decisive with his defending off it. The deflection was unlucky but you can never blame a defender for trying to put a block in. Not to mention his recovery pace which is going to be a huge asset. Handsome bastard as well.

Brilliant debut. Looks like a faster version of super Jan. So composed and classy. I think he'll be a fantastic partner for Romero.

And to think, at the start of the match thread, some people wanted to start the "safe" option of Davies or even Dier over him or Udogie?!
We're here for a brave new world under Ange and both players played with no fear whatsoever

I'm sure there will be mishaps along the way, so let's not get too over excited but the lad has everything to suit this system and become a great CB.

I was so impressed with him today, like others have stated, he just looked assured and in his element. It’s exciting because over the last few windows we have really started stacking good, self-motivated players, with awesome attitudes. It’s really rounding into a fun group of players that are easy to root for.

Pleasantly surprised at how good he was yesterday. He's a big lad, much bigger than most of the CBs we've had in the last few years, and the only few of a similar size that really spring to mind are players like Fazio or Rodon who have tended to be big, slow lumps that are only really good for winning headers. This guy has got a real burst of pace on him and it was so refreshing to see a defender actually carrying the ball forward and playing out from the back after years of watching our CBs panic and hoof it back to the opposition under the slightest bit of pressure.

Defenders get remembered for their mistakes - there's a long way to go before he's fully proven himself but an encouraging first display.

Thought he was great, makes for a pleasant change seeing pace across the whole back line for once (although i use that term loosely for Emerson i think he's got enough, just).

Irritates me that the likes of Udogie and VDV come in as starters/competing for starting berths but due to our bloated squad are wearing numbers like 37 and 38, hurts my eyes.

Edit i've just seen there are squad numbers free 16 and 22 etc, wish they'd have taken these!

We saw more 'daring to do' in that selection and setup than we've seen from Conte and Mourinho in their entire tenures. 90 minutes of Ange and it feels like we're emerging out of a dark cave.

I thought all the new boys did really well but this guy was pick of the bunch for me. Only a game but given the circumstances he was exceptional. I thought Sanchez did well too tbf.
