Definitely not gonna sign two players at this level with no champions league. I suspect it will be one of them to play with Romero and we’ll get a cheaper option to sit on the bench.
We’ve been told we want both and are moving in cbs. No reason we can’t get both. It’s not huge money signings and both would sort our defence for years.

It's very very refreshing to see players linked who would actually fit the Ange system and how he wants to play. Just need to get a few of them over the line now.
Agree, all well and good being linked to these players. I'm at the point where I just want the club to get these deals done early and give us some hope for next season. We have been here far too many times in recent summers only to see players not join us.

Haven't seen the guy play but a Wolfsburg supporter on another forum:

Also from the same person:

Pinch of salt but when supporters are that positive about players and still seemingly level headed (happened with Grealish, KMJ, Gvardiol for example) I've found them to be more accurate compared to most others
Those physical attributes are hugely important for a Postecoglou system you feel with a defensive line that will for sure get exposed at times.

Indicates some harmonisation in scouting for a specific purpose as opposed to a more scattergun approach we've been accustomed too.

💯. I thought the club would change its approach after Jose & Conte, even Levy and our board are not that stupid and tone deaf to know the direction we need / needed to go in.

Conte & Jose wanting to sign big money expensive experienced physical defensive tactically disciplined players never suited our club or model, we work better with mostly younger vibrant value signings who are high energy and who can be moulded as part of a system like Poch did and like Ange will do given the right fit of players.

As you say hopefully we can get a few over the line but I had a feeling it wasn’t all going to be as doom and gloom as some were making out.

Let’s see 🤞

Didn’t realise how heavily Liverpool were linked with him. We can offer him a realistic chance to play every game I guess, but worry it’ll be like Luis Diaz all over again…

You don’t rate Romero then?

Everything I have read suggests we looking for a partner for Romero. I just don’t see us signing two players of this level without champions league. There are not enough matches to keep them happy, especially as CB is a position where there is normally a lack of rotation.

Also, Romano said he is on the list but Tapsoba is higher. Doesn’t suggest we are after both.

I really rate him. Just want us to have 3 quality players and the option to play a back 3 also

He's also played at LB a handful of times. For a player that likes to dribble and is rapid, may not be a bad position for him in Ange's system as well if we were able to get Tapsoba or another CB as well.

I know many think we're set at LB but probably still the position with the most ?s:
- Udogie - young, new league, played last few seasons at wingback, will have to adjust quickly
- Davies - steady, experienced but only 2 years left on contract, probably won't sell but if the right offer arrives, do you consider?
- Perisic - rumored to wants out, only really fits in LWB system or as LW cover
- Regulion - coming off an absolutely horrible year with injuries and illness. No idea what state he's coming into preseason in
- Sess - HG. Season 5 coming up and has only played 50 something matches for us, does he have the technical ability to play inverted as Ange likes?

Anyway, pretty pleased to see us linked with the new VdV (lol), I thought for certain he was going to Liverpool so kind of looked past him.

He's also said it's his dream to play at Anfield. Realistically the only way we have a chance of getting him is if Liverpool decide not to. In any case, the way Romano has phrased it as him being on a shortlist implies that he's just one of many names alongside Tapsoba to be the "main" centre-back we target this window, not the priority target.
If he joins us, he will play at Anfield once a season, depending on cup draws, injuries and/or suspensions.

Would love this to be true as he's an outstanding prospect with a high ceiling but already capable of playing in the PL imo.

However, it's extremely likely he ends up at Lpool as VVD's long term successor imo. Schmadke, the new Lpool DoF, came from Wolfsburg- he was the one that brought him there and knows all about him.

This link could be a ploy to get Lpool to pay up (similar to the Diaz case).

Nice to see a fresh batch of names mentioned and not just the same players we've been chasing for years. Hopefully shows they're scouting for AP and not the club.

The two CBs Liverpool have been most strongly linked to are Van de Ven and Inacio.

Both really good prospects and should both be on our list. Will be similar prices too.

Tapsoba first choice, then either of these as back up options if we can’t get him, would be good recruitment.

Tapsoba plus 1 would be the dream.
