I'm not saying last two minutes, last 20-15 is what i mean. If Edwards was really such a bad egg a loan to Norwich was the worst thing for him, we needed to show him love and let his ability do the talking. So i think it's a bit harsh saying it's fully on Marcus, its on both Marcus and the club for not being able to deal with different individuals who have different trigger points and needs.
Everyone was raving about Marcus, way more than KWP, Mason, Bentaleb etc. This guy was the golden boy of our youth set up and if you think the club takes zero blame for him not making it, that's just a little naive in my book. Some players just need to be thrown in the deep end, Poch even likened him to Messi but then never played him, as a 17 year old how much would that mess with your head. Your boss is saying you have talent comparable to the best player in the world, yet he doesn't even play him.
We gave him time in the Gillingham cup game and he looked good and dangerous, then nothing. Bizarre.
While I agree Edwards should have been handled better and been giving chances, I'm pretty sure you were one of the people at the time, saying that, if he doesn't get a chance it's down to him, as Poch will always give chances and it was essentially Edwards' fault.
I still rate Edwards and I'm happy he has left the club. While I think he's still good enough for us if I were him I'd stay well away. Hopefully he can do another season at Vitoria or a slightly bigger club in a slightly better league picks him up over the summer, so he can continue his development after he was stifled. Fortunately it doesn't seem he's lost too much time.
England will be so better off with a fully firing Edwards.
