He’s not an RB. He’s a makeshift RB just like Dier was in his first season. I really dont get why you’re fighting this.Yep. And Argentina played him at RB because of Daniel Levy too, right?
You know literally nothing, and yet you're calling me blind haha.
Our poor defensive form wasn't solely down to the defence. It was due to not having the midfield structure or midfielders to help us gain control of games or protect. We then had Trippier getting exposed far too often too.Exactly, I find posts like that so weird. Did the guy not see how rubbish we were for 90% of the season? We scraped 4th by virtue of Arsenal and United imploding / being utter shit. We weren't much better. Finishing top 4 and the CL final glossed over what was a team in decline, and the stats back it up completely.
I don't see how weakening our back 4 and gambling on kids in full back positions is progress.
Players change positions sometimes. Going by Argentina's selection, Poch's comments, and reliable journalists saying we won't be directly replacing Trippier, we see Foyth as a long-term RB rather than someone temporarily covering the role. He’s not an RB. How do you know he's not a RB? He's played like 30 games of professional football. Look at the actual facts. When he has played RB, like at City last season and for Argentina, he's been really good. He’s not an RB. He’s a makeshift RB just like Dier was in his first season. With Aurier’s injury record we can only rely on one actual right back, Kwp, Foyth will be a fish out of water at Rb, so IMO we need another right back. How would keeping him have made us any better?
Problem for me is that he's only been good at RB when we've been up against the top teams like City etc where we're kind of expected to sit back a lot more and defend. Against the likes of Burnley etc he's not really good enough going forward. You can see it's a defensive-minded player trying to make quick offensive decisions that more often than not ends up failing. How do you know he's not a RB? I'm fighting this because you're talking absolute rubbish, even being an utter cliche and shoehorning criticism of Levy into this situation. What if it's simply that Pochettino genuinely believes there's a good full back in Foyth? What say you to that

To be perfectly fair, neither you or I know what is going behind the scenes, but if we are getting £25m for Tripper and say £20m for Rose and Poch is happy with this then who are we to question that? All ve
All very well but it was no smooth ride and was touch and go. So excuse me if some of us have concerns on the strength and cover in our defence. How many games did we lose? We should be strengthening our squad before we let our so called weaknesses go. It appears we let other clubs do this.
Really? So you don't trust the managers judgement? I'm sure out of 3 players one of them will be able to find consistency. KWP is 22 ffs we have to give him a chance at some point or what is the point in keeping him?
I'm glad Poch is showing belief in these players rather than taking a gamble on another player that might not actually improve us.
Yep. And Argentina played him at RB because of Daniel Levy too, right?
To be fair the standard in international football isn't always of the highest quality. For example, Trippier looked world class playing for England in the World cup but now he's deemed surplus to requirements.
I'm not saying that Foyth won't end up a great full back, but just that we should temper our expectations. He's only made a handful of appearances in that position so far for club and country.
Exactly. I find it a bit rich for some fans to shout down others who are expressing concern about Foyth playing RB. He's literally played one PL game there, and was good, but that's all we have to go on.
How can we not be a bit concerned that we are going into the season with 3 full backs, all of which are either not good enough or unproven. I thought we were supposed to be building a side to win the title? Doesn't look like it if we aren't in the market for a top RB.
Foyth at RB is a massive gamble whichever way you look at it. It may work out well, but until it does, I think we are allowed to express our concern.
Liverpool and City both have top class RBs, and we will be going in with Foyth?! It's clear to see yet again we will be aiming for 3rd/4th at best.
Well, not as much as you think. Liverpool's right backs are great examples. These were not players with massive reputations. Klopp trusted them and they blossomed.Exactly.
