Very simply put, we are replacing Vorm with Hart. That seems to basically be it and in that sense it's an upgrade in my books.

Beyond that, if he's gonna be 2nd choice it'll be because Jose thinks he's better than Gazza. If not, he'll be third choice.

Think Mourinho saw enough of Gazza when Chelsea turned us over.

I think this is a good move. Hart has a wealth of experience and will be a big presence in the dressing room.

My concern with Hart is how poor he had become. Loads of saveable shots being conceded led to neither Torino nor West Ham wanting him and he's been behind two younger English gks at Burnley. But notably he was no longer seen as a safe pair of hands.

Like Robinson before him, he seems to have been mentally effected.

I agree from a HG perspective and a good character to have around that it's a good situation. Just not sure I'd be happy with Lloris getting injured and having to rely on him.
Robinson was way more successful than Hart post-leaving Tottenham/Man City. The way people talk about it you would think he was finished as a keeper, the reality was he continued to play as a regular starter in a PL side for 4 more seasons, till he was 33, at 32 he won the blackburn player of the season award. After relegation he suffered from a major injury and loss of form but was still normally a starter when fit until he was 35, after age and injuries caught up with him and he saw out his career as third choice for Burnley, making 2 or 3 appearances to round off his career.

The way people talk about him is as if he just slid of a cliff after the England mistake, when the reality is he managed to have a full and largly succesful career afterwards, with 10 years of first choice top flight football, which for a goalkeeper is very respectable.

Is Joe Hart the first player since potentially Saha to have won the PL in our squad? That can’t be true, surely. I must be missing someone?

Not sure why people don't think he would be third choice, City have Carson, Utd Grant, probs both better than Hart over recent years

No one in this thread has seen Joe Hart play at all the last few years apparently. He let in goals for fun. He is a very poor #2.

I would say Gazza is off.

He must want to be a #1 sometime in his career.

Hart was won more than everybody in our first team combined (trying to mentally confirm this).

I fully expect to see a young H/G player to be bought or promoted with Joe being asked to play occasional games and mentor. Having watched that interview I fully sense that he wants to be a coach in the future.

Can you watch players train these days?

I'd quiet like to go and watch Lloris and Hart practising long balls to eachother.

Good signing. Would let Gazza go to free up a HG space. He is good enough to start in Championship.

Gazzaniga needs to be our backup. If we sell, we’ll have a gaping hole at backup GK. Gazzaniga is upgradeable but Hart is a definite downgrade

Hart is actually 4th choice for any top club ... But in spurs he will be 3rd choice and that's why he is coming here ...

Joe Hart is not as bad as he is made out to be.

although he was in talks to go state aide (Chicago or LA) so not sure how much truth there is to this.

We don't need to let Gazza go.

We've already let Vorm go.

Edit: Also Gazza is one of our most passionate players as evidenced by the "Touchline-Cam" films that we were being entertained by pre-lockdown.

Joe hart is not in any position to be number 2 at a club like spurs ... Number 3 would be career upgrade for him at this moment
