James Maddison is back, folks. It's difficult to overstate just how good he was in his first 10 games in a Spurs shirt. Not only did he score 3 goals and provided 5 assists, he was also heavily involved in the buildup to 6 other goals.

- Beautiful lofted ball to Perisic for United's own goal.
- Beats the defender 1v1 prior to Romero's wondergoal against Burnley.
- Line-breaking pass to Porro who assists Son for the last goal against Burnley.
- Delightful through-ball to Richy who can with one touch pick out Son for first goal v Liverpool.
- His volley shot/pass takes a deflection for the own goal at Palace.
- Creates Son's goal at Palace with a one-two with Johnson.

This means that he's been involved in 61% of our goals when he was on the pitch.

Welcome back Madders.

I reckon he'll start tonight so that will be Maddison and Kulusevski added to the team that played at Utd. That's a massive boost. I think if we played the weekend Maddison would have been on the bench and then started this one. Similar to VdV who just sat on the bench in the cup and then started the league game. Only difference we had a break.

To be fair we started against Villa with Lo Celso, Bentancur and Kulusevski and looked great until Bentancur got taken out. So absolutely we could play a 3 of Bentancur, Kulusevski and Maddison but not for this match. I wouldn't be so against it at home to Brentford though.

Yeah, I'm not sure how beneficial it will be to squeeze all the attackers in but like you say, I do think we could play with it, although I prefer the idea of preferably Hojbjerg and if not Skipp in there to then have the option to bring Kulusevski/Johnson on from the bench.

Will be nice to have a real asset to bring on as a sub for once.

I don’t have any expectations for the match today, but it’s not stopping me from being incredibly excited to watch us play with Bentancur, Maddison and the full strength back 4 again. Should be really entertaining and just so happy Maddison is back. Feels like it’s been an eternity.

Absolutely, get Soloman and GLC back and Son soon after we could have serious good options off the bench. Maybe a cheeky Nusa option too. Then it's more possible to go attacking and still have bench options. Perfect for teams who sit deep.

It's going to be fantastic to see him back. Hopefully get gets 60-70 mins under his belt and comes through without any issues.

Yeah, such good options once they are back. Our depth has been criticised heavily this season and prior, and rightly so, but slowly and almost sneakily (due to constant injuries masking it) I really do think the quality isn't so bad right now once everyone is fit. With Sarr and Bissouma still to come back, our squad and as a result, bench, could be looking really really healthy for the second half of the season.

You forget just how good he’s been pre injury if he can stay we can definitely get in the top 4
