From Ange: "[Maddison] not with us and not likely to be with us in the next couple of weeks I don’t think."

So looking very unlikely for Utd, but potentially back in the squad for Brentford 🤞

Or the FA Cup 4th round if we progress. I think with the break it will give him the time to be ready to appear in that one and then start against Brentford.

Agree. I keep hearing/reading people mention the Brentford game as the target for Madders and Cuti, but if we get past Burnley (big if with our absentees) then the 4th Round weekend (27/28 Jan) should become a viable target for them to return, if needed.

He's playing it down a little here, look how Bentancur just popped back up on matchday. Bournemouth probably didn't have a clue he would be playing and it would have been a surprise for them to see his name. Same goes for Maddison, we are hardly going to tell UTD a couple of weeks in advance that he will be back. I still think Maddison will be in the squad for UTD providing there are no setbacks. There is a reason there were zero pictures of Bentancur's return to training, same goes for VdV, there is zero benefit to it.

There are lots of benefits to me, emotionally.

Yeah I get the feeling, for once, we’ve got a manager that uses player returns as mind games with his opponents and boosts for the fans. Ferguson used to do this a lot. Saying there was no chance player x would be fit and then come match day they were starting.

Could really do with him making a surprise return at Utd. Missing our 2 best attackers showed tonight.

On spurs Twitter it looks like Madders is arriving to training along with the rest of the squad. 🙏 I think last week someone posted to say he arrived after the main group. In this weeks video he seems to be first in.
