Huge blow if we are looking at the best part of latter Jan/early Feb and undoubtedly leaves a creative void in this side.

If Gio can't grasp this opportunity then I fear his long term future is elsewhere - probably is already - but this will be a real headache for Ange to resolve.

The way some people scapegoat the medical team whenever it turns out a player was playing through injury is bizzare, as if it's not down to the player if they are fit to play, want to play, or want to get an injury looked at.

If Madders has been playing through something, then that's down to Madders. The medical team would obviously have known about it. Ange also. We all knew he was carrying something for the past few weeks.

Dier did this, Son did this, and now Maddison and Richarlison also. Players just play through injuries in the hope it'll heal up over time. It's not just our players either. Every club every has had a player playing through injury aggravate it. "Sack the medical department" is not going to change anything. Mindblowing.

Well I guess in the short term we have Gio, Kulu and to a lesser extent Bentancur who can play that role. Obviously none are at his level but I guess it could be worse. We also have Donley although how ready he is im not sure. Might need to rethink about it come Jan tho as If Gio and Kulu aren't up to it we need a proper back up/rotation option to Maddison. Unfortunately Maddison has always been a bit partial to an injury and i think considering how intense we play and the amount he gets hacked down this was always bound to happen. The biggest problem is how many first team injuries we are getting at once coupled with some red cards. Realistically tho we have known from the start of the season he has been on the edge so this isn't the largest surprise just seriously bad timing.

Not only is 1-3 months a ridiculous range and shows he is guessing, if Maddison has been carrying an ankle knock then he would’ve already had scans.
More likely that he damaged the ligaments (against Arsenal from memory) but it’s been ok to manage with treatment. Monday he clearly rolled it and has made it worse. But even without the existing weakness, that roll would’ve been quite bad anyway.

And don’t forget about sessingnon being told twice that he needed an operation on his hamstring and twice refused only to eventually having to have one, how much damage has he done to his career by ignoring medical advice?

This season was always about the FA Cup and top 4 for me, the amazing start we've had has given us a little cushion with the latter. Hopefully we get a kind cup draw and tick over with points until we get everyone back. I think we were always going to loose Madders at some point, he's looked like he has been nursing injuries all season. Just offering a different perspective.

1-3 months is pretty vague. That’s quite a significant gap. Hopefully Bents, Gio and potentially Donley can plug the gap for the foreseeable.

It’s not aggregators now though is it - it’s about half of the journos who regularly break big news relating to Spurs. What long lay off means is open to interpretation but my hunch is he’s out until January at best.

I will say I think it’s a bad look on Southgate that he was so poorly informed about this and still named him in the England squad. At the very least it’s apparent that everyone at Spurs knew he wasn’t able to play in the next week or two.
It's aggregators quoting the journos. I'd rather see it in full context or see confirmation from the club.
