Maddison really feels like someone who will thrive and come alive in a big match; the kind of player that the opposition fans will hate in a derby

and fingers crossed, with Yves Sarr Madders Porro Udogie, there’s plenty to be optimistic about
I hope, and pray for one game away where we turn up.

If England played a version of a 4231, with Grealish, Madders and Foden being Kane… I honestly cannot think of a time England had that type of playmaking power in the same team. Then you have Rice and Bellingham behind them. That’s sick.

If it wasn’t for our shoddy defence that is right up there with best international team in the world and all still relatively young except Kane (whose game will prob still be decent for another 5 years).

England are blessed in the offensive areas, but I think Southgate struggles to find the right balance up there. He also has his favourites which can exacerbate that issue. If you were going off current form the midfield would be Rice, Bellingham, Maddison, Foden and maybe Rashford.

For me, he’d be better alongside rice and Bellingham in a midfield 3. He’s a little wasted on the left when he plays there for England.

Re the 3 caps thing mentioned, I think part of that was because he pulled out of the England squad injured only to be pictured pissed up in a pub the night England played. Southgate played it down at the time but not sure it helped his cause. But he’s had twins now and that will mature you overnight!

Saka instead of Rashford?

England surely have to play a midfield 3 of Rice, Bellingham & Maddison with a front 3 of Grealise, Saka & Kane.
Quite possibly the best midfield & forward combination in the world.
However, defence is the problem.

Its embarrassing how good the England midfield and attack is compared to Gerrard's "golden generation". If only we had defenders like King and Ferdinand.

Sure OK - from BBC Gossip

Chelsea cleared the path for Tottenham to sign England midfielder James Maddison, 26, in the summer because he did not fit the age profile of their transfer targets. (Football Insider)

Watching Arsenal Manu

I’m extremely confident that our centre midfield - especially our interplay - is much better than theirs

The way Yves Sarr n Madders combine plus Porro n Udogie always available as passing outlets is so so nice to watch (and we have Bentacur soon)

Total credit to Ange for setting up this midfield that makes football so pleasing on the eye

And yes compared to last year, it’s total night and day
I really like Sarr but Bantancur in his role is going to be something special. like having modric and rafa back but also having a progressive 6 as well rather than parker.

Yeah I hope he comes back ok from his injury, Bentancur has been great for us and I think he still has loads more to come as he was still getting better the more he played in this league.

That's too many playmakers, you need strong runners off Kane too. At least one of Rashford or Saka has to play.

They were talking about him on Talksport after the game, one of them said he should be nicknamed James "Snow" Maddison, because he's settled so quickly.
