Hence why we don’t win anything nationally, he prefers safe options
The problem is that national teams have managers, not coaches, and players like Madders, and Hoddle, Gazza and the rest need coaches. Other nations have, until recently, had a football culture pervading their home leagues, which mitigated this problem. Now, I think, there's a much more level playing field, and our flair players will have more opportunities.

Great after match interview with Maddison on the review show on Spursplay, says he and the squad really want to do well in the domestic cups, looking forward to Tuesday.

I remember years ago reading that he was the most articulate footballer in the league and your can see why. He also comes across as having a superb understanding of the game and it must be great for his teammates to play alongside someone capable of communicating so clearly on the pitch.

Definitely a future captain of Spurs but dare I say a future England captain too if he keeps up his form. It will be impossible for Southgate to overlook him if we can stay at this end of the table.

And imagine Conte is said to have turned him down last summer! 😱😱
Conte isn’t interested in players like him or Eriksen etc, they’re the polar opposite of how Conte sees football. If he’d signed Madison he’d have ruined him like he did Bissouma last season.

Just as well to be honest, I don’t even want to think about what he would have done to stifle Madders attacking instincts. I think we got him in at the perfect time.
Yeah my dad was complaining about us not signing him 3 years ago.

1. Poch apparently wasnt mad about him which meant he would not have had much time to show.

2. Those 3 years of playing consistently for Leicester have made him the player he is today.

3. Conte was a crap coach for Eriksen. It would have been the same story here.

Maddison needed to be at Leicester and stay away from our mess until he develops as a player and matured as a person.

As you say, it may have been the perfect moment

Impossible to watch him play and not be super impressed, plenty of scouts from Chelsea, Utd and other clubs probably having stuff to explain right now. Not sure what else is your nr. 10 supposed to do. Amazing outside of the football match too, just look at his post about Richarlison.

How this lad doesn't get much of a look in for England is beyond me
I think he'll start to get more minutes if he keeps this form up. An England midfield of Rice - Bellingham - Maddison has a bit of everything. Certainly should be ahead of Mount whatever happens.

Think he's been underrated by all while playing for Leicester, but is also now playing at a level nobody saw there at the same time making the disparity even greater. Majestic today, and all over the pitch doing the same shit, taking the ball and never letting it go, beating men for absolute laughs as if it's no bother and progressing the ball. Ridiculous if he's not a central part of the national team if this continues.

To have both he and Bissouma be able to take the ball facing in any direction, take the right first touch to protect possession, and having the tekkers and the confidence to beat your man and drive forward is just sexual to watch. Does any other prem midfield have two of these players? When Lolo comes back we are truly spoiled. We've fallen into having an absolute world class selection of first XI midfielders.

It blows my mind how Ten Hag went into the market with a hard-on for Mount cause he is an 'excellent link player' and fluid across the top and completely disregarded Maddison.

He does EVERYTHING better than Mount.

I am surprised about how he seems to be everywhere. Very much a modern-day 10, can link play, press, drop deep to play in midfield, assist and gets into penalty area. Also tidy dribbler!!
