I wish we won a meaningful trophy during our Poch pomp more so for him than for Kane. Will always be grateful to him for coming to us and giving us everything when he could have very easily had his pick of any club in his prime. Can’t recall him ever agitating for a move either.

Hope we find the right solution for him.

Truly a great player for us but unfortunatley this is another example of this club holding on to players for too long.

What was worse. Being back up to Friedel when he first joined or his last when conceding 5 goals by half time and then being subbed?

Best wishes to him. He could be outstanding, he also had some crazy moments. People saying ‘he could have played for anyone’, yeah, I don’t ever remember any rumours about a big club being in for him. Good luck to him tho.

Terrible captain.

Great player and servant.

Should’ve been sold last summer.

And, even worse, he won the World Cup.

un terrible.

Best goalkeeper we've had since Jennings in my honest opinion. Some of his saves like Bayer away, just insane and would always collect a corner like it was nothing.

So gutted he leaves without a single medal. Sums up what is wrong with this club in one sentence :(

au revoir la légende

That France team were by far the best team and he also made mistakes along the way.

Sorry but not changing my mind that he’s not a good captain and I’m glad that we will no longer have a GK as our captain but fantastic servant to the club for sure.

I agree having a goalkeeper as captain is not necessarily the best idea, but I felt AoN just reinforced exactly why he was our captain! Far better than Kane from what was shown in the documentary.

No coincidence that he’s been the choice for captain of every manager we’ve recently had.

He's been our captain and part of the club for the better part of the time I've been a Spurs supporter. Hugo will always be a legend for me, and I sincerely hope we can at some point replace him with someone as good as he was during his prime.

I hope we arrange a testimonial for him. He's deserved it.

A captain does far more than what we see on the pitch. There's a difference between club captain and who the leaders are on the pitch. Lloris is obviously rated highly enough to be captain for his club and country under various managers. It's not enough though because some fan on a forum thinks he's a bad captain.

Did you expect him to chip in with more goals and assists?
Yea better XG and XGA would've been good :ROFLMAO:

I just don't think he's a good captain mate, most on here have agreed with that in the past but now he's leaving everyone seems to be being romantic and have changed their tunes.

I don't know about that buddy, I'm not sure most are changing history here. You're very welcome to your opinion, I just don't agree that he has been a "terrible captain" like you said in your earlier post.

Remember that being a good captain isn't just what us fans see on the pitch once a week. If you take a bigger picture view, during the 10 years Lloris has been at the club there has been a significant upswing in the team performance, including a couple league title races and a few major cup finals that unfortunately we didn't get over the line. Lloris has been a big contributor to that performance, both individually and as our club captain.

It's not being romantic to respect the excellent years of loyal service he's given to the club, with the entire prime years of his footballing career.
