Or rush back for the Euros and damage it again. Sorry to be so negative, but I can really see it happening.

Darren Bent was on The Debate the other night and said he’s had the same operation. He said you always feel it afterwards and will keep having time off. But then with him, all of a sudden the feel of the post injury just went.

This was in 2017 and he was out 122 days. He was older though, 33, when it happened so that may have an effect. So 5 months out. He’s not going to come back this season guys based on that.

It’s genuinely baffling how hated Kane is on Twitter. All because he didn’t pass to sterling for a goal that would have been offside at the World Cup. Fucking wankers.

Not surprised as twitter is full of those. All fans of other teams I know have full respect for him. Although the people I converse with are grown ups , so that may have something to do with it.

How is he supposed to sit and watch this bullcrap while injured? I myself, would have thought about leaving with this shitty squad.
How does he see a future with this team, when there's no effort when he's out for rest of the season?
I would not blame him if he were to leave.. This squad is worse than the players from the Villas-Boas era.

I’m sorry but I can’t think about him without thinking how fucking annoying this injury is. It’s just not our time is it? There’s always something.

Harry needs to manage himself moving forward - that means not playing every game.

And we need a decent 2nd striker - not a back up striker.

It’s literally impossible to find and buy someone who will come as backup for Kane. No other teams have more than one good striker I mean look at Juve, they have Ronaldo and they’ve had terrible trouble finding any other backups so they’re having to rely on some youth team kids called Dybala and Higuain.

It won't be in a long time. It will take at least 3-4 years to make these players 'winners' again like in 2016. A depleted squad, that needs a massive overhaul.
Don't want to guess what Harry must be thinking to himself right now(for his own sake)....Regardless,I don't like it!

It’s genuinely baffling to me how much abuse our own players get on this forum. People generally find it easier to be negative I guess.

We need a striker ready to start right now. But imo, we should keep an eye on Adolfo Gaich, a kid surfacing right now in Argentina. He's a big strong number 9, but with great link up play. I reckon he will be Argentina's #9 next year of the following. He scored for fun in the u20s

(this should be for the scouting thread, but I couldn't find it)

I'm guessing he just scored?
Yes, but not my first mention of him ;)

Whether you agree with signing this guy or not, it would be refreshingly decisive of the club to go get him as soon as Harry is effectively ruled out for the season. On paper he’s a strong target man with a good strike rate and entering his mid 20s. Much better than signing someone past their best for free or just loaning someone, and with half a season to lead the line, he’d have every opportunity to show himself worthy of playing regularly even with Harry fit so that we don’t flog the hell out of our best player as he enters his peak years.

I can’t profess to have watched Piatek but I know that I’ve heard his name mentioned positively for a number of years. Even if he is an inelegant player, there’s always a place for a rough and ready number nine in my opinion, and I can’t see Burnley selling us Chris Wood.

The "headline" stat I'm seeing everywhere is that this is the first time that Spurs have failed to score in three consecutive league games since the end of 2013 (just before Kane burst onto the scene). Although interesting and not particularly flattering, three games is also a terrible sample size. Those three goalless games could've occurred with reasonable probability at any time through shitty luck even with Kane (the probability would definitely be slightly reduced but maybe not to statistical significance).

The other stat I'm seeing is Spurs' record in the last six (seems to be league) games without Kane: W0 D3 L3. I don't like "arbitrary", selection-biased cut-offs designed to generate maximally sensational stats but if you stretch it out to a round ten, you still get a pretty terrible W2 D3 L5.

If you count all competitions and go back 17 games without Kane - which is as much as I could be bothered to calculate manually - you get W4 D4 L9. That's the kind of sample size from which you can infer legitimate trends and patterns.

My question is: when do Spurs get better without Kane?

(And for that matter: why the fuck are a bunch of English people on Twitter happy that some random doctor quoted by trashy tabloids says Kane "might" miss the Euros? England supporters have even less reason to think we're better without him than Spurs' do. These kids think we failed to reach a WC final because of Kane when the reality is that we wouldn't have made a WC semifinal without him. Fuck, there are some total dangers out there in this world.)

Even posters in this thrtead have spouted this bollocks.
The prevalence of that ridiculous, statistically illiterate meme, which has somehow even permeated (admittedly small) segments of the Spurs fanbase, was what prompted me to look deeper into the stats. I can't fathom the fact that there are people who watch Spurs on a weekly basis and still believe the whole "better without Kane" thing. Actually, to be honest, it just makes me a bit sad: the only good reason to be loyal to a club to the extent that Kane has in this day and age is for a fanbase that really loves and appreciates you.

That meme was invented by rival fans who watch a max of 4 Spurs matches a year and then spread by other rival fans as a WUM to sow discord among Spurs fans. Even - or maybe especially - as an outsider, I can see this. I have grave doubts that most of the rival fans who parrot it even truly agree with it -- not that many of them have sufficient knowledge to make a sensible judgement either way.

Right now, it's clear that if Kane wasn't banging goals in for some reason, his passing ability and ability to win aerials, accurately knock on second balls, and hold up the play would be priceless. A target man is missing from the current style of play and, among his many talents, Kane is probably the best in the squad at that role.
