Kane has looked as though he is at the biological age of wayne rooney on the wrong side of 30 for at least the past year... the reluctance on here to admit that is fucking astounding... he will come back with even less pace than he had, which was already minus zero - to be frank.

He's done... What was once a 200mil player in a world of uncontrollable inflation is now near nothing, in a world still governed by uncontrollable inflation. At least this injury might speed up the process for spurs to find a replacement.

On a personal level, I am gutted or Harry, that his career may have turned out to be quite a bit more, but this is way past the beginning of the end for him. Oh dear... there is way more to life than football anyway and he has done very well

You must be fun at parties...

I hope your God's are watching over us when we replace Piatek as the third backup to Kane, after Soldado and Janssen. He's so much worse than those two. Holy shit.

His regression was noticable last year and even more this year, we need to look for a new forward in summer, Parrott is still too young. Someone like Haland would be perfect but bigger clubs will want him.

The game is changing all the time, in the noughties and prior, it was quite common to have a big man and a small man up front. It started to change to just having 1 powerful striker up top around mid noughties. Spain then changed things by having no strikers up top at all. I think in this decade, we will start seeing less and less players like Kane playing for the very top teams and more all round attacking players like Firminho. I think majority of the goals will be expected to come from the wide men. The term striker may not even exist by the end of this decade.

Haaland has only just gone to Dortmund. He won't be moving for years.

Has Kane really played more minutes than other top players?
Obviously, I cant be bothered to research the answer to my own question but I struggle a bit with the idea that he's run into the ground.
Is VVD rested much? Do many clubs rest their top strikers, or players?

Yes, we should have a backup option but as I say, I'm sure there are plenty of players who play as much as H.

As a comparison different league I know but as far as I can see from records, last season Messi now over 30 played 60 matches including internationals and Kane 49 , this season so far Kane 20 , Messi 19 but I doubt Messi plays 4 matches in so short a time. Even with Sonny available would Kane have been given a rest in one of those four matches over Christmas & New Year , doubt it.

You're probably right there, maybe it's down to the English fixtures and the lack of recovery time between matches.
As fun as the Christmas period is for us supporters, the amount of injuries across the Prem this year has got to stop and make those in power look at whether it's bad for players in the modern game.

He was injured in the 70-something-th minute of his 4th match in 10 days... No fucking wonder.

That's on Mourinho, not Pochettino.
Most star strikers play as much as Kane over a whole season. But playing him 4 times in 10 days is def running him to the ground. That's what must triggered this injury.
It's understandable though, as we are in a bad situation and Mourinho wants to win as much as he can. And we didn't have a backup striker.
Kane's previous injuries were on his ankle, that's not an injury caused by overplaying. Pulling his hamstring definitively is

I get why Poch and Mourinho played Harry all the time, and no doubt the player himself always pushes to start. But what has always frustrated me is that neither manager ever subbed him. Even when he was dead on his feet and we were winning comfortably.

Just take him off after 70 minutes from time to time - there has never been any responsible strategy for resting him where possible.

The PL website's stats section lists minutes played per player. I filtered it for forwards only. Last 6 seasons, Kane's ranking:

2014/15: 13th
2015/16: 1st
2016/17: 16th
2017/18: 2nd
2018/19: 21st
2019/20: 8th

Both Salah and Mane played more mins last year than Kane did the year before.

The best players get played as much as possible and want to play as much as possible. It's part of what makes them the best.

Harry had his surgery done. Let’s wish him a quick and speedy recovery in these trying times ??

I’d say it’s more on Poch still.

It was under Poch’s watch that we started season without a backup centre forward.

Then Son went stupid and got himself sent off so who was Jose supposed to rotate Kane with?

Although as also posted in this thread i‘d agree he should be subbed more to keep fresh.

It‘s just so poor and I’m still annoyed Kane is injured AGAIN and the club was too thick to see the need to look after him more and provide him with some comp so he wasn’t undroppable.

I think Liverpool do tend to sub them more though, at least that’s what a Liverpool supporting mate (who also has soft spot for spurs and his little boy supports spurs, the poor bastard, so that’s some redeeming qualities lol).

As I too was thinking Liverpool play the same front free practically all the time.

We HAVE to get another centre forward and start looking after Harry better.

Be it rotating or subbing so he stays fresher.

The only thing here that needs to be changed is we need to stop running him into the fcking ground. We ask too much of him. If we keep him fresh and rotate, he'll have the energy and freshness to get that extra yard out. He's been exhausted for about 2 years now...

Some posters on here have expressed concerns he may want to leave due to lack of trophies but I would also counter that with he’s been injured long-term the last three seasons in a row and not always come back all guns blazing so who knows what would have happened if he’d stayed fit and in form?

The club still take a large share of blame in not getting in at least one other centre forward as all players need cover and competition and I’m just not buying no-one will come because he’s clear starter as it’s a squad game these day days.

BUT Kane also needs to take responsibility in that last seasons ankle injury was because he was lunging in like a loony and also he needs to maybe not rush himself back if not ready and be honest.
