Thought we defended set pieces as well as we could aside from this one obviously.

I'm still 50/50 on if it's a foul or not. I think in today's game generally it's given as a foul and so it probably should have been given as one. But at the same time keepers are often over protected where the slightest touch is deemed a foul. If it was up the other end and we scored that way I'd be disappointed to see it ruled out. Guess it's another inconsistency with the officials this season. Something needs to be done and worked on to iron them out. You'll see it given one game and then not the next.

What's most annoying is that because of the inconsistency, I have no idea what's a foul or a card anymore, especially inside the box.

I thought it was a foul but then I also thought Udogie was just a foul and Walkers was a yellow.
Udogie just stood on the foot, whereas walker was studs into the ankle/shin.

Man City are really good at fouling in a way so as not to get booked and to break the rhythm of their opponents.

The situation for me wasn't enough to be a foul because I think Vicario had every right to go through Dias to claim the ball. If he leaps and claims the ball regardless of where he lands or who he lands on there is no way a penalty is being given.

Punching the ball makes you look like you have less control of the situation and makes you more susceptible to foul calls against you

I think he’ll be a little disappointed with the first goal. It was a good reaction save but he popped it back right into the danger area. It was something that showed up in clips before he came here and he’s done a good job improving on that. Love Vic and they’ll be just work even harder to be even better.

love this guy more than any other keeper we have had, he just gets it, and that save at the end was immense

gotta be my signing of the season. Dependable, and consistent. everything you want from a Goalkeeper.

to think we only paid like. £15M for him? i hope there are performance bonus causes that's a steal.

Toney is a good player no doubt. But don't dish out bants if you can't take it mate. Basic rules of life.

"You should have cashed out, Ivan Toney you should have cashed out".

Vicario is a great keeper. I don't think he is poor at any aspect of his game. But his reactions are particularly impressive as is his reading if the game. Knowing when to come out and clear the ball etc

Yep. Was gonna say how part of Brentford's plan was to wind our players up. Toney and Maupay in particular the ring leaders in that no doubt, yet when it's dished back to them, they don't seem to take it well. Love it.

Toney should expect that, but unfortunately it's more like the red carpet has been rolled out for him on his return, so his ego is probably even more inflated despite his wrongdoings.

I’m not blaming him. But I bet he’ll practice it this week.

I don't think that type of shot in particular is one where you have the luxury of trying to dictate where it goes afterwards. It was struck so close and hard at him that I initially thought he did well to get solid hands behind it.

It may very well be something he needs to improve, but on this occasion I think he was just unfortunate.

He has to be stronger and stop looking for fouls. Thought he would learn last week but didn’t. Lacked a bit of bravery for the second goal as well. Teams are going to go to the bully tactics now against us on free kicks and corners.

The coaching team has been inept at fucking corners, its insane

We have ALL 11 players in the box, so we always concede the corner and then the pressure when we clear it

To make matters worse, we leave Vicario 1vs1 where he can't fairly take on the defender as he has to stay in goal leaving our GK trapped 1 vs 1.

Shay Given was saying on motd after city, the goalkeeper has to put a player in between their attacker and goalkeeper to give a barrier but this way of defending is bad

So frustrating that we have 11 players in the box and not one is near the fucking goalkeeper FFS and this has been happening non stop since the city match
This^^^

The coaching for defending set pieces has been poor

I think it's safe to say teams have found his weakness. He's gonna need more protection from our CBs because this will become a regular occurrence if we're not careful.

In what way is he looking for fouls?
