Fantastic write up from an Empoli fan.

I'm intrigued as to why an Italian would have Florence in his user name when Italians don't call Florence 'Florence', but 'Firenze'.

It's almost as if someone looked up the English Wiki page for Empoli FC, noted the words '... based in Empoli, Metropolitan City of Florence. Founded in 1920...' and thought 'that's a sound basis for a username' and went from there, completely neglecting the fact that Empoli would see Florence's football team - Fiorentina - as rivals.

But surely no-one goes around pretending to be Italian in order to seek to fool other posters? I mean, that would be a Krule thing to do...

I prefer a keeper to push the ball out to a dangerous area than not make the save or push into his own net which is what Lloris has started to do.

It looks like Romario has just moved to Reddit with his in-depth Italian/spurs analysis. 👀

That 100% reads like it was written by Romario…
Yeah I’m calling bullshit. “Excuse my English” and then writes perfectly worded and punctuated sentences and even uses English footballing colloquialisms like “for me.” This is 99% not an Italian Empoli fan.

It was the use of “Ange” that got me

This. The rather overplayed explanation/justification for using Reddit already seemed an odd way to begin. The use of “Ange” rather than Postecoglu, the very specific knowledge of his tactical approach and some other turns of phrase make the whole thing a bit suspicious…

It's quite sad that one fool has scarred the community so much that some can't take supposedly innocent articles at face value. I get it, but fuck Romario, I'm going to believe it. Vicario will be Godly

It could be someone called Florence who was born in 1920...and at the grand old age of 103 decided that she ought to finally give Reddit a go....

Tbh I don't think we're being paranoid here - it's very clearly some sad chancer given the username, colloquial English, new account, etc. You don't get random fans of mid-table Italian teams posting on subreddits in perfect 'football English' and knowing we call our manager 'Ange' - it's fanciful at best.

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if it's actually Krule himself again given he's a Spurs fan and clearly got the horn for this kind of thing. I'm fairly sure he had another account pretending to be a Georgian guy when we were linked to Kvaratskelia (apologised for English and pretended to type badly before writing perfect English within like 3 posts) which also conveniently disappeared the minute Romario got busted.

People on the internet are weird, man.

I'm also leaning towards it being fake but the text reminds me a lot of something translated using ChatGPT, fwiw.
Hmm maybe, but the way it's structured and lots of little turns of phrase like 'for me' don't strike me as AI, or even a translation tool.

The phrasing would be much more clumsy if it was Google Translate, and the structure would be totally different if it was ChatGPT.
