I’ll be surprised if he isn’t starting.

Initially we were told it was tightness, then that he’s out for 4-6 weeks?

But he’s back training a week later.

I don’t think there was much wrong at all, fully expect to see him today

on my telly, post match, Skipp was the one doing pitch side interview and he said the following (wrt our equaliser) (paraphrased)

that Cuti is so so good at passing, that all the midfielders have to do is to find space, and if you do, cuti will find you.

and that's what happened repeatedly yesterday and whenever cuti plays... it looks as if he is slowly the game down but he is such a good playmaker from deep.

little wonder Messi sings his praises, for Messi also likes this sort of intelligence (his infamous walking around doing nothing but mapping the game out)

little wonder also that immediately PEH and Skipp look like much better players with Cuti and VdV in the team

Skipp who was supposedly flu bug hit.

I thought Romero was brilliant. Annoying that the pundits were moaning at him for defending with his arms behind his back like he hasn't been done for hand ball a couple of times so far this year.

I can't think of a more creative centre half. His passing is better than most CMs. Opens up the game for us in so many situations where others would go back to the keeper or hoof it. Thought he was excellent yesterday

Agree but what was he doing with hands behind his back all the time. Sometimes yes but it seemed to hinder him for one of the goals.

I'm guessing as he has conceded penalties for "handball" before (City last season and Arsenal this) he wants to leave no doubt with his arms behind his back?

There was a point where a United player had a shot and I noticed all our defenders were doing it. My instinct tells me it will cost us more than it will benefit us but clearly an instruction from coaches.

I would like to see an end to the hands behind the back stuff, Porro too.

I understand they're trying to avoid giving away a pen, but it makes moving harder.

I think he blocks the first goal yesterday if he just moves naturally

Loved him attacking the header that hit the bar, that was just being an absolute monster and making that ball his. Fantastic return

looked a bit rusty in the first half but there was a moment in the second half where he did two tackles in the space of a couple of seconds where it was clear he was back

love the guy (warts an all)

The Tottenham Hotspur boss has detailed how the Argentine has stepped up to make up for the absence of captain Son Heung-min

Alasdair Gold

Ange Postecoglou says Cristian Romero has really stepped up to try to fill the gap left at Tottenham by captain Son Heung-min's departure to Asian Cup.

Son left earlier this month for the competition in Qatar having made a big impression as the club's new captain this season, taking on the armband from Hugo Lloris. The South Korean has earned praise from all corners for the way he has stepped up into the role and how he has united all the different groups within the Spurs squad.

While admitting that Son's absence has been felt, Postecoglou believes vice-captain Romero has made it his purpose to lead the group through this time without the popular skipper.

"There's definitely a void there but with all these things there's definitely opportunities. That's where Romero has really stepped up," the head coach explained. "You just feel it around the place. He knows that Sonny's not here and he knows what Sonny does on a daily basis. Sonny gets around everyone in the building and says, 'how you going?' and Cristian's doing that now.

"I can see that. In training he's a lot more vocal than he was in the past. That's the beauty of it. There is a void because you're missing one of your leaders, but for me, on the outside [of the dressing room], you're kind of waiting on, 'is anyone going to step up here? Because we're going to need someone to, or do I need to interject myself into it', but he's stepped up.

"There's been others too, Vic in goal, he's stepped up. There's a really good feeling amongst the group at the moment over where they're at. They understand that because of what we've been through. 'OK, somebody's missing, man down, but somebody fills that void and we keep going until they come back'. I think it's been good for the growth of the team."
