Bit disappointed that none of the news from DiMarzio/Romano this eve re Gollini has also mentioned any interest in Romero.

Maybe the deals are at different stages and it's only Gollini which is actually advanced.

Fabrizio said earlier that we're working on a deal but nothing is done yet

Romero is insane. You all know he was Serie A defender of the season, and he did it in a ultra-attacking and often defensively exposed team. Sturdy base, a really strong leaper and hard to move. He’s not rapid, but not slow either. Aggressive on and off the ball. On the ball, he loves to move forward, but I’m not sure how much of that is Gasperini’s system and how much is his nature. Judging by his Argentina time and Genoa time, it’s probably a bit of both. Very good on the ball though.

Back 3 or 4, he’s great in either. His standout attribute is his defensive instincts and his base and adjustment of positioning. It is truly elite. Right place, right time, all the time. His body shape and positioning in every defensive scenario is fantastic. Great reader of danger and team defender too.

A warrior. Played in the Copa final with leg injections after being almost a certainty to miss out. And was a top performer in the match. Young yet experienced on the big stage. I’d guess roughly 40 mil, but for a player of his profile, he’ll be a bargain if his development continues.

As naturally talented as Lacroix, more talented (and better last season) than Skriniar, and very close talent-wise to Kounde. But as a pure defender he’s at least on par with the Sevilla man. This would basically be the best CB signing we could make when considering cost, potential, ability, youth, and experience. Exciting.

You had me at "insane"

Yeah unfortunatelyt seems a bit to go with that one, that said we are obviously talking to Atalanta, and Ally G did say both are advanced and now Gollini is practically there, fingers crossed, we need this CB so so badly. It would transform our prospects, signing Romero.

Must admit I’d never heard of this guy before today. Sounds pretty good though.

encouragingly we seem to be after a series of highly promising young CBs

at least our priorities are on point!

I imagine this deal would be more complicated than Gollini's, since it would involve Atalanta exercising its option to buy Romero first.

Gollini, Tomiyasu, Romero and Ings would be a fantastic basis for the window. Another centre back, a midfielder and a winger look like they could potentially follow if we shift who we want to.

Tbf I’ve never heard of him until today but watching some vids of him and he’s exactly what we need. All last season we had the cbs backing off the opposing team whilst attacking us. This guy looks like he reads the game very well and engages early. Looks very comfortable passing forwards too. I just have no real belief we will sign him tho. I hope levy has realised he’s dropped a few bollocks sticking his hooter in. ?

Paritici came in for some criticism I believe letting him go to Atalanta so nice that there are no signs of stubbornness/refusal to buy and he sees him as a positive for Spurs.

Yeah this is exactly where we struggled. You are correct.

Tomiyasu, Romero are defenders who are more aggressive in their approach. We aren't a team who can afford to back off and allow attackers space in front because we lack the concentration levels and we are incapable of playing through a press and relieving pressure. Add Hojbjerg and Skipp in midfield and we should be a lot more tenacious and a tougher nut to crack.

It also gives the front four more chances to get on the front foot.

Lyall saying this one looks “difficult” for us. That’s it, boys, if Lyall says we ain’t getting him he’s as good as ours. Get those shirts ordered.

Not close according to Di Marzio

"After the arrival of Musso, the people of Bergamo decided to sell Pierluigi Gollini. To come forward more than the others was Tottenham, which the st to borrow, renewable for a second year at 2 million euros. The redemption right is set at 15 million euros but will become an obligation if a certain number of presences is reached.

The exchange of documents is already scheduled for tomorrow. Gollini would leave Atalanta after four seasons as a protagonist and return to England, where he grew up in the Manchester United youth academy.

The Spurs also like Romero, but at the moment the parties are still far away."
