It's a real shame, I think he'd actually fair much better in teams with the style of City and Barca but it's hard to see how he gets those type of moves now unless Poch took over a club. I'd have liked to have seen him succeed in getting his dream move, he'd have probably contributed more than Hazard by now. I wouldn't take him back though. I don't think he offers what we need in the midfield quite frankly in terms of physicality.

I think he’d likely be good cover for Kane in a creative sense, fit him in the side and he’s got the ability to transition the play forward quickly for our runners. I’d take him back, but we’d need to move on some non HG players first, and he’d have to be truly committed to the project.
terminates gedson's loan perhaps?

Absolutely no way does Eriksen hold up the ball or put in a defensive shift anywhere near as well as Kane. He'd probably fit in quite well as an option in the role Ndombele currently has, but my honest opinion is Eriksen has had his Torres moment now. He'll never get close to the heights of a few years ago, no matter where he goes.

this is the most important factor - you can remove the emotion in the debate, but I’m not sure he’s good enough now

Eriksen v.2020 I agree. Eriksen v.2017 walks into any team in the world.

That begs the question, has he got that 2017 level in him still?

He's really silly going to Inter under a coach like Conte who is very pragmatic. He'd be better off going to La Liga or maybe join Verts in Benfica lol.

Id be devastated if we re-signed him. He’s done fuck all for 2 plus seasons and in my opinion we don’t miss him at all and could do much better. As many have already said, he wanted to go and so he’s made his bed and should go lie in it. We’ve moved on

Vitriol aside I bet there are a swathe of top teams who would bite Inter’s hand off. But I still hope it isn’t us. Can imagine him shining at Dortmund.

I agree we probably shouldn't be resigning him but some of the comments on here are something else..."let him rot, he made his bed"?

He fought for the cause for many years and still is our leading assist player in the Premier League.

Instead of looking at him as a mercenary who forced his way out of a club why not consider him as a person who just wanted a change in environment after so many years. He never kicked off, he never downed tools or spoke badly of anyone, he just lost form. That's clear now he's at Inter that he's still not regained it

I wouldn't have minded in the slightest if he'd come out when his form began to dip (so roughly two years ago) and said he'd lost motivation and wanted a change of scenery.

Instead, giving no indication whatsoever that he wanted to leave, he let his contract trickle down to the magic 12 month mark then, a couple of days after the most crushing defeat in our history, where he was virtually anonymous, he gave an exclusive interview to the biggest news agency in Denmark, which was essentially a 'come and get me' plea. That interview was unnecessary and severely damaged our negotiating power. The world knew Eriksen wanted out and that he'd be able to agree a free move elsewhere in 6 months time. All of a sudden, a player we could've gotten at least £80m for in his prime was set to leave for not even a quarter of that.

We took him from Ajax and gave him the platform to become a world superstar. What he did to us in return is unforgivable. I think people are being polite when they say he deserves to rot on Inter's bench. Karma has come for that balding dickhead big time. Long may it continue.

TBF if he wanted a move after 7 years, signing a contract to give us some value would not work in his favour. We all know that Levy would have priced him out of his move and the only way he had any leverage was to run down the contract. He could have waited and sat out like Ozil and am sure he would have got a higher salary. He said he wanted to leave 12 months before which gave us the chance to sell him. Yes his form dropped but that could have a number of reasons and it doesn’t look any better now he has got his move.

Whilst I don’t want him back as am not convinced he is what we need, I don’t hold bad feelings towards him and don’t take pleasure in seeing his career stall. As long as he doesn’t go to a rival I hope he comes back to his best.

Huge talent but you have to wonder whether he can recapture his form after two miserable seasons with us and another with Inter.
