Did you expect him to be 3 levels above the rest of the team? He was still far from the worst out there.
Eriksen like others in our squad had been bigged up to such an extent in the past it has clouded everyones judgement. The bottom line is his going and tbh I can't wait for him to leave.

Tbf I can’t wait for 16 or some players in our squad to leave. We’re a bang average side with bang average players.

Like @Danny1 said in the Mourinho-thread only Kane, Ndombele and Eriksen could go into any team in the world right now. That number was much higher 3-4 years ago.

And with Eriksen leaving we’re down to 2 players. Levy really needs to give the manager the rebuild we’re all screaming for.

Eriksen could go into any team in the world? Which Eriksen? The current version certainly couldn't. And I'm not sure a new contract somewhere just magically makes him good again.

He had a good run when he played behind Kane. I'll miss that Eriksen, but I don't believe we will ever see him again. Let Lo Celso play in that role - where he is actually good - and let Eriksen go. So utterly pointless having 3 players for 1 position (and right now the worst player of the 3 is playing in that preferred role).

Ndombele and Eriksen are struggling to get into our poor side at present.
Eriksen couldn’t have got into “any side in the world” 2/3 years ago when he was good

Jose's first seasons at Chelsea (2nd time), United and Madrid were far from perfect and he still had weaknesses in those teams. That's with him even having a preseason in each of them.

He's joined us mid season, with a team who have talent but have lost that desire for the club - plus poor recruitment too.

I'm confident that with a solid summer the the team will start to look in much better shape and we will see Jose's real team. But he has to be backed. It's no use the club giving him 1 or 2 signings then limiting it. If Jose says we need an established DM, then get one.

If he's fully committed I would actually not sell in January.

He could easily be the difference between top 4 and europa league.

But if we blocked him leaving in January would he be fully committed?

I would be amazed if left in January, he can start speaking to clubs abroad shortly and will be aware of the deals on offer for the summer. No chance he walks away from that now for less money.

Being honest, if he continues to perform as he has recently I'd rather keep him around than receive a tiny amount due to contract length anyway.

Why would he be leaving for less money? As you say he can agree a contract now with a club that will start in the summer. If he knows which club he wants to join and signs a pre-contract agreement with them then we could sell them the last six months of his current contract so that he moves there early. It wouldn't cost him anything.

Inter are having a very good domestic season, but they are not exactly the 'elite' level club that Eriksen is supposedly after.

That said, Eriksen basically tried to create a move to Madrid himself last Summer and nothing happened, so maybe Inter will be his only real option.

Just cut him loose. He doesn’t want to be here else he’d sign a new contract. It can’t be more obvious to anyone yet the club seem to want £20 million of you believe reports. Nobody is going to pay that when they can get him in the summer for free. Maybe we’d get £5 million or something, which I’d take if we put it towards bringing someone else in. He’s doing absolutely nothing consistently to warrant keeping him.

I don’t want him in the team if we’re going to be getting report after report of him going to this and that club all through January. We‘re not playing our best as it is, so having him distracting things even more is in no way going to help.

Either sell him for a nominal fee or keep him away. We need to move on and use the players who do want to be here. We don’t owe him anything the same as he doesn’t owe us anything.

I'm not trying to sound bitter, but which elite team would want him? Going to RM watching Ødegaard play doesn't make much sense. I don't see BM needing him. So potentially winning the league with Inter sounds like the best he can get - and obviously not a bad option.

Lets say Kane and Son. Not Eriksen or Ndombele.

All comes down to money, as you say we can sell them the last six months, how much are we going to charge for that 6 months? The club will be offering him higher wages and signing on due to not paying a fee at all, so if they want him early they are hardly going to pay a fee we find acceptable to let him leave now.

Not saying it wont happen but I dont see us getting an amount that is worth him leaving now.

We certainly wouldn't get the £50M that's been mentioned in the press, but a team might offer us £10M-£15M if they thought he could help them win a trophy this season.* That would go a long way towards paying for one of the young players we've been linked with.

*Liverpool tried to do something similar in a winter window when they'd already agreed a deal to sign Naby Keita the following summer. That wasn't a free transfer though.

Yeah could maybe see something like that happening, if it is used to bring in someone like Eze now I'm all for it.

Let's hope whoever's he agrees to join gets an injury crisis shortly after.

Inter is a big club with 18 league titles and 3 CL titles + + + And they want back on top again! I think they are a more elite club that some of you are saying. Can understand why they want Eriksen. And I can see Eriksen going there...

In my opinion, it will be a good move for him..And for us..He has burned his bridges with us!

cant see why he would go to Inter now, might as well wait and leave for a free, would imagine we are a bigger club than Inter anyway

Agree. My guess was based on Inter being close to Juve now, Conte knows Eriksens level and Inter being short of creative midfielders.

If none of the big clubs in spain want him it should be one of his best alternatives.
