Yes one big reason, his chances of getting a move to any of the big clubs you state would reduce if they have to pay the transfer fee.
Wherever he ends up he will earn more than "one of our highest earners" on a free, he would earn more then Kane.
What you suggest is not a win-win for everyone involved, its not a win for Eriksen, especially if he wants to better his chances of winning things, which I believe is his main motivation anyway.

Unless he suffers a major injury this season, which could cost him money from not being under contract and potentially scare off those bigger clubs altogether.

If he wanted to better his chances of winning things he should have turned up and performed at the CL finals. You seem to suggest that he had no chance with winning anything with us, where in my opinion he was one of those culpable for us not winning.

Cheap silverware with no real achievement attached to it.
Yea but if Madrid don’t want him does he have a choice? Also I’d still say PSG better bet longer term to win the CL than us even if we did make the final last year they have more money and a better team.

Not that anyone cares what Big nose Thompson says on Sky, but he has been pretty adamant that he (Eriksen) knows where he is going next and that a contract will be signed at the earliest date that allows.

“On Saturday we are going to know if Christian is going to be with us or not,” said Pochettino. “That is the most important thing. After, [on] Sunday it is the game, there is no real time to do something.”

From Poch himself... Possibly good news?

Can’t see him leaving now. But also can’t see him signing a new contract so bit in limbo, hopefully once the window closes poch can set the plan this season with the squad everyone committed and a happier camp playing better football.

Where’s the quote from? Doesn’t the window shut Monday night so regardless of game tomorrow there would still be time for a move?

Maybe Levy is planning to leave his phone charger at home on Monday...

The Guardian reported it today and attributed the quote to Poch.

Basically, business won’t be done tomorrow because of the game, and Monday will be too late given the complex nature of any possible deal.

It’s probably nailed on he’s with us for the rest of the season, unless something moved quick today but I doubt that
