Might be total nonsense (and probably is), but a United supporting friend in work has suggested that there are a couple of rumours on the United side that they're not pursuing Fernandes as much right now as there's a suggestion that Eriksen might be available.

Would be pretty devastating to see Eriksen in a United shirt, so hopefully it's rubbish. That said, if Eriksen refuses to sign a new contract and United were the only team to bid for him, I suspect Levy would deal rather than risk losing him for nothing.

Heard the same from a friend who works closely with agents re Eriksen and Utd.

Has been my fear for a while. A complete disaster if it happened.
Disaster is a bit much. If selling him meant we brought in both GLC and Bruno vs losing him on a free and getting only 1 of them then you sell, regardless of who it’s to.

Yea, I just seen that.
I'm not an ITK basher or ever been, but with all due respect, I don't buy that info.

Nothing indicates to me that all of the sudden Eriksen is different now, let alone yesterday's game.
Unless Eriksen himself told someone, no one knows what's his head like.
I'm just gonna go with that ... the source got it wrong, or it's just an opinionated view of the source.

*And I feel like I have to reiterate this (as there are trigger happy people here), but this is no way an attack on Hercs.
He also didn't celebrate his goal which I thought strange at the time.

I would love to see a Venn diagram of SC posters who spent last season pillorying Eriksen, saying he was shit and contributing nothing, and posters who are saying losing him is a disaster if we only replace him with one, or losing him to a rival is a disaster.

I can’t be sure, but I’d wager the overlap would be quite large.

Also, anybody who thinks that Utd aren’t still a huge pull, regardless of current state, is delusional. In recent memory they have been the most dominant team in England for an insanely long stretch of time, and win two champions league titles while appearing in another two finals. Manchester Utd are massive, it will take well over a decade of obscurity to undo what Ferguson created.

Interesting one, maybe we are stringing them along while we move in on Bruno?

I just don't think Eriksen has a leg to stand on if he goes there, similar to Zaha going to Everton. Goes against everything he has said previously this summer and before.

There's still the problem wether Eriksen will agree to sign for any other club than RM and Barca. Everything so far has pointed to him having a very clear destination in mind, even been rumours of his entourage flat out dismissing United when they made an enquiry.

It will be interesting to see where this goes as Eriksen himself holds all the cards. Yes in theory Levy could threaten with freezing him out but you can just look at the Toby situation and he's still very much apart of the first 11.
Perhaps he would go to Juve or Bayern also

Anything can happen in football, but I would find it so strange for Eriksen to refuse a contract only to sign for United and to leave one of the best training grounds, one of the best stadiums and Champions League football to play under a questionable manager, a team that is in a transformation stage and Europa League football, possibly even for a few years. I would think Eriksen is at a stage in his career where he wouldn't want to waste any seasons in the Europa League.

Well, 0 posters on here have ever called Eriksen shit, so I doubt it.

Then the question remains why would he leave Spurs for United, we are in a much better place right now...

This whole Eriksen thing is perplexing. If he has rejected the deal, no way Levy is going to keep him. If RM aren't even entertaining him , who else can Levy sell him ? Atletico may be. Or worse United this week. I cant see Eriksen going to United if he is putting Football in front of money. I still feel there is a chance of a new deal.

I mean saying he was shit as in saying he was playing shit, not that he was a shit player. I thought my use of ‘was’ made that implicit, as if I was alluding to people believe him to be a shit footballer, I’d have said ‘is’ as he still currently would be.

If the Van De Beek stuff is true the only club left that makes much sense this summer would be Atletico. They've been chasing James for a while and if Madrid decide to keep him Eriksen could be an alternative option. However, if Madrid have VDB they'd probably be more willing to let James leave, nipping the idea in the bud right away.

I feel if a club like Utd or PSG comes in for Eriksen, even if they do offer huge wages he'd probably still prefer to see out his contract and have his pick of teams next summer.

Wasn’t there talk of a deadline for him to sign a contract? My guess is that has passed and we have now moved to trying to get BF in. Perhaps his dilly dallying has burned his bridges? We seem pretty ruthless regards contracts/ commitment, look at Toby and Rose.

I don't disagree with you, but United do still have a big standing in world football, plus an absolute boat load of money. I'm not saying I think he would go there, but it's not completely out of the question.

What if Poch actually doesn't want Eriksen around, or Eriksen has decided he definitely wants a new challenge/change of scenery, and there are no other teams interested? It's not likely, but not impossible either.

Well its not easy with Eriksen though. He will go easily 50m to 70m in this market with him on last year of contract. Even if we take 50m, its nearly 8% of our bank loan (637m). I cannot see Levy letting him stay running out his contract

I'm certain United and Solskjaer in particular are very keen on Eriksen. But I'm not certain that Eriksen is very keen on them.

For once United is a step down from Spurs and yes of course they are a bigger club and so forth but regardless of how much money they spend they still have to play EL this season.
