It's not really worked out with him, and he's not going to suit a back four if that's the way it goes. Can't see any way he will improve next year and if this is true then probably the best thing for both parties.

After the appalling treatment of Davinson by the fans today, I think it's time to start talking about our players with a bit more respect.

Perisic has been disappointing but I've seen no sign of any lack of professionalism or desire. Hopefully he can go back and we wish him well.
The same players that have thrown so many mangers under the bus?

Numerous ITks In here over over the years for a start. Kane went to DL to voice unhappiness about Poch as a starter for ten
And what has that got to do with Perisic?

Should we be abusing our players because Kane spoke to the chairman about being unhappy with Poch?

I don't think even you know what your point is.

It was worth a punt for all parties but I think he came to the Prem too late in his career and it's all just a bit too quick for him.
Considering the way the rest of the team have performed this season, I don't think he's been terrible, it was just a bit much for him.
No hard feelings and all the best Ivan.

You stated we should respect our players more. My response was to ask why as these players haven’t earned that respect with previous and present behaviours! So i I beg to differ, I do know what my point is 👍

OK, just seems irrelevant in a thread about Perisic, who has done nothing to deserve any disrespect.

Fare point but your point was about respecting Perisic who is a player. The same post could be applied to most of the team. 👍

The players have to earn respect and our good wishes. Davinson did not deserve what happened today and has given sterling service to the club over a number of years. I wish him well and feel very sorry for him.
However others have taken the money and given little in return. Perisic is a disastrous signing who falls into that category.

But I don't think Perisic's lack of performance is due to bad attitude, not trying or just wanting a pay day.

He has tried and not made the level. We know this can be difficult for players new to the league.

It's fine to say someone has not made the level. But to say this should lead to disrespect is all levels of wrong.

Not to offend anyone on here as I don’t want to start arguments etc, but when it comes to respect how about they show us fans who pay a lot to watch them and travel a long way in the process. Not bad mouthing any one of our players but I cannot agree with they need respect etc.

No one is offended. Why do you think Perisic deserves disrespect?

I haven't heard a single thing about him not trying, not being professional or doing anything untoward.

I haven’t said that at all, I just do not accept the argument that he deserves our respect that is all.

For me he doesn’t thrill me or make me angry: just a part of the stale bread of our squad. Not entirely his fault. I am just not bothered by him at all.

He deserves the same level of respect that anyone does until he gives a reason not to respect him.

At this stage, he hasn't done a single thing to not be respected.

I didn’t say it should lead to disrespect. I respect him for his past career but don’t think what he has done for Spurs is worthy of respect. He has been very disappointing for us.

You seem to respect people based on ability, I think you should respect people based on their character.

Perisic has come here, done his best, never complained when not playing or shown anything to suggest he isn't a good professional.

We have a huge issue with underperforming players that we can't sell. The story from the OP suggests he wants to leave instead of staying here an extra year collecting his £200k a week.

That gets respect from me. Not a huge amount or saying he gets special treatment but the idea that we should respect people based on their ability is ridiculous to me. We've had numerous talented players over the years who don't care about their careers and are happy to just take a pay cheque.
