That's Bentley, not Bent. I actually think we're 100% keeping Bent now and just replacing Pav with a big striker. Unless a really good offer comes in for him.

Exit looms for Tottenham Hotspur's David Bentley and Roman Pavlyuchenko

div#related-article-links p a, div#related-article-links p a:visited { color:#06c; } David Bentley and Roman Pavlyuchencko could leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer. Harry Redknapp confirmed he has to sell at least two members of his squad to bring in fresh talent and, after his side’s 2-1 defeat of Manchester City on Saturday, the Spurs manager indicated whom he may be willing to sacrifice.
“David is obviously going to be a player who’s going to look at it and think, well, hang on here, I’m not getting in the team, even when Aaron Lennon’s not fit, and maybe it’s time I moved on or something,” Redknapp said of the midfield player who signed for £15 million from Blackburn Rovers last summer.
Bentley’s last appearance was as a substitute in a 1-1 draw away to Sunderland in March, yet Redknapp says there is no animosity. “As a person I like him very much,” he said. “He’s a good lad and a good player, but I’ve played differently and I’ve changed how we play a little bit and I’ve had results, so no one can complain.”
Pavlyuchenko, who cost £14 million from Spartak Moscow last summer, was substituted after a poor performance against City at White Hart Lane and ran straight down the players’ tunnel. Redknapp admitted that he was being sarcastic with the applause he gave the striker as he ran away.
“You’re looking to scrap away, the fans are here, they pay their money to watch and I think when a player runs down the tunnel without sitting there and watching his team, getting behind his team, I think it’s disrespectful to his team-mates and I don’t like it,” he said.
Redknapp can guide Tottenham into the Europa League with a seventh-place finish if they beat Liverpool on the last day of their campaign and Fulham lose, but he said he has no idea if he or the players would be due a bonus payment for qualifying for the competition that replaces the Uefa Cup. “I’ve never looked at my contract since I came here,” Redknapp said. “I’ve never even seen it. I don’t even know if I signed it, to be honest, and that is the God’s honest truth.”

didn't know harry clapped him when he ran down the tunnel. did see his sarcastic comments about good movement though! seeled his fate. sad to see him go, and bentley, as both are likeable players and could have done a good job for us, but clearly it hasn't worked out.

Couldn't care less about David "I support United or Spurs" Bentley. He hasn't done it for us. And I think the same applies to Pav really. Has shown flashes of brilliance and it's his first season in a new league, so perhaps would like to see him have one more year, but buggering off down the tunnel on the final game of the season when the fans have been absolutely brilliant to you all season? Doesn't sit well with me really.

Downing to replace Bentley and... Hmm, not so sure who to replace Pavlyuchenko.

I didn't see him go off down the tunnel as it was difficult to spot from where I was but there was lots of cheering when the number 9 came up, he really has had two absolute stinkers at the lane in the last 2 games.

Bentley was always going to play second fiddle to Aaron once in form so it was not a major revelation that he would leave. Possibly to Citeh in the summer, if we could convince them to part with petrov this would be a great deal.

Pav is a bit of a surprise he has done well this season, however, based on the events of yesterday I think he will be moving on in Summer he will probably return to Russia I don't think his family really ever "settled" in to London life.

Don't think Gilberto or Rocha were there, I definitely didn't see them.

Pav was out there, smiling and joking around. I'm pretty sure Bentley was too.

i don't mind if pav leaves so long as we get a classy hold-up striker as replacement. bentley was always going to leave anyways, i don't think he's settled back in london well and perhaps a change of scenery will do him and his career good.

I think it's too early to let Pav go but if we bring in a real powerful number 9 then when is he going to play? he had a real stinker yesterday, and was constantly on his arse. Crowd as usual when a player aint at the races at WHL got on his back, but he shouldn't have walked straight down the tunnel, maybe just annoyed at his actual performance.

Wow, well that's pretty much the first concrete evidence that Bentley and Pav definitely aren't in Redknapp's plans for next season, and it looks utterly definitive to me: they're both 100% gone, IMO.

Will be more sorry to lose Bentley than I am to lose Pav, as I think there's a better player lurking under the poor form of this season than Pav's potential for improvement. However, as Redknapp says, Bentley just doesn't really fit in with our team's style of play, and a move would probably be best for both parties: I wish him all the best wherever he goes. Don't have a big problem with Pav's strop in the Man City game - it wasn't great, but I've seen players do far worse - but I just don't think he is all that good of a player. Not an active stinker like Rasiak, Booth et al, but not as good as any of our other 3 strikers, and the most easily upgradeable of them if we're looking to improve our attacking options this summer.

The crowd still chanted for him after he was taken off. He needs another season before we can judge him but i'm wondering whether Redknapp will give him the chance. It does seem Redknapp has chosen his own plan for the future and maybe not wait.

i think its pretty obvious that bentley is going as harry played him a handful of times since he took over
as for pav and bent if someone comes in for them im sure they will both go out although i would give pav another season making sure he has a long break this summer

"Roman's done well, I've been pleased with him," Redknapp said.

"He's been unlucky with injuries but he came on against West Ham in his last game, scored the goal and was outstanding.

"Then he got injured again with a back problem. I think when he's playing well, especially at home, he's been very good for us.

"There are certain aspects of his game he can improve on and there are things he needs to learn about the English game but technically he's fantastic.

"He's got great feet, he can shoot, great touch, and I think he has a big future at Tottenham.

"He has scored some great goals at home and his performances have been excellent so he will get better and better. He's realised that you have to put a shift in England and he worked his socks off against West Ham."

I think Redknapp will be watching very carefully for Pav's attitude and reaction in training this week. The outcome could decide his future.

I had the feeling that Pav went down the tunnel because he was so embarrassed at playing so badly, not through disrespect. He looked more as though he was going to burst into tears than anything else.

Dont sell Pav 'Arry, he'll come good with rest and then he'll be banging them in!

Give them both time! We need squad depth so keep em!

That's a good find and a decent point. Looking back at Redknapp's quotes in The Times' story, it appears that the writing is on the wall for Bentley moreso than Pav: maybe Redknapp's just a bit pissed off with Pav in this particular instance, but is willing to give him another crack next year. Quite hard to call which way Harry will go on this, though for what it's worth it's still my opinion that he'd be the first striker of ours that I'd replace if we were to sign another forward this summer. But yeah, it's perfectly possible that Pav will still be a Spurs player in September.

Bentley, on the other hand, is a transfer waiting to happen after those Redknapp quotes, can't be anything else.

I think it is best for the club and these 2 players that they both move on from Spurs. Pavlyuchenko is a good player that should be at the peak of his career, but like Joey has said a few times he's clearly in the wrong league. I think he's best suited to Serie A or Bundesliga.

I would only get rid of Pav and Bent if we were funding a move for someone like Tevez... (not saying we will do that, just hypothesising!)

I think Tevez would be absolutely the wrong player for Spurs. Offers nothing to the team.
